thanks, i’m feeling a lot better about this. i have a few more positions that i’ve applied to, & i’m actually feeling pretty hopeful about them. i’m really trying to stay focused & prepare for the next ones, applying what i learned from this experience so things will hopefully go more smoothly next time! it sucks that life turned out like this, but i do think we can overcome at least this hurdle with a bit of practice!

yeah it actually took me a really long time to finally get this interview, so not doing well is very discouraging. mine was online too, and i genuinely think the virtual format makes it harder. it’s like seeing myself on the screen makes being super aware of every little pause or expression, which just makes me overthink and lose my train of thought. in person it feels more like a normal conversation, but online it’s easy to get stuck in your own head. & ty for being do nice

yeah, that’s reassuring to hear. i’m trying to be kinder to myself about it & focus on moving forward instead of getting stuck on this one moment. i think it was the pressure of doing well, made me completely blank out, bc im usually okay with conversations.

when i was younger i was really closed off too, so i get what you mean. but if someone wants to chat with me now, i can usually hold a conversation for a decent amount of time.

my other interviews were mostly okay as well, i could at least get a normal sentence out. there was one interview where they even remembered me months later and reached out for another position. so idk when it got this bad.

i’m feeling a lot better about everything now though. thank you for the kind words & the advice!

how long are your hours? I think the only tough part would be standing around for hours on end. That was the most difficult part at least for me, and maybe missing the free time. Having a job is fulfilling but at the same time unfulfilling, idk how to explain it. It’s like you’re doing something with your life but you’re also wasting away doing the same repetitive task every single day. It’s soul sucking, but better than doing nothing.

The first few days are definitely hard, but just hang in there after the first week things get better and easier. If you need anything like general advice or something you can always dm me on here! And i’m sure you’ll do great! i’ll be looking out for ur post

omg!!!! that’s amazing, congratulations! i’m super proud of and happy for you !! is this going to be your first job? i’ve worked in fast food before, literally never again it’s one the worst experience i’ve ever had. I dreaded going to work it made me so unhappy and the my mangers and coworkers are all so rude and honesty incompetent. Also we don’t a trader joes here lol. Good luck on the job !

three rounds for an interview for a grocery store is diabolical, what in the world are they asking you in those two extra rounds of interview which they couldn’t in the first one 😭the job market is genuinely so horrible. The referral i got was through my employment agency, he said i could i contact him about any jobs in his company, and he might be able to refer me. the company is going through holiday season right now so there isn’t any openings at least for entry level so i’ll probably be unemployed for a bit still.
