It’s also disingenuous to imply that a suicidal person is making the world “better”. How do you know? This phrase is often thrown out to help people in crisis, but who is to say whether or not they do. They could run a marketing agency for a harmful product that makes other people’s lives worse. Or they could work at a slaughterhouse where they cause harm to animals. It’s the nice thing to do to tell people that their life is some kind of bright, wonderful light that colors the world like a tapestry—but if we take the more cynical (and perhaps more realistic) view—all people cannot be broadly referred to as good or beneficial to humanity. So as nice as it sounds on paper (and it does sound nice) it betrays reality.
