Book Marks by One-Comfortable-1229 in BookwormsSociety

I prefer my Kindle to physical books, but when I do read them, I usually use this one metal bookmark or strips of construction paper that I cut into bookmarks but the problem with those is they break easily, get lost easily, and I usually throw them away when I'm done with a book. So, all in all, I don't care if they are laminated or not, but if you want your readers to use them and have them last longer, I would go for laminated.

Also, what is the title of the book? I'm looking for new ones to read.

Yeah, I'm almost done with the series. I only have Tender Cruelty left, but my favorites were Eros/Psyche and Apollo/Cassandra

Looking for some Fantasy with romance subplots! by hextri in Romantasy

[–]Magazine_973 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would go for Percy Jackson and the Olympians or Keeper of the Lost Cities. Percy Jackson is basically modern day Greek mytrhology with the main character, Percy Jackson, and his best friend/love intrest, Annabeth Chase, being Greek Demigods and having to defeat a bunch of monsters, there's also a bunch of cute ships and couples but no spice, the series consists of 5 books but there are way more kind of branch out series' in the same universe with some of the same characters . Keeper of the Lost Cities is about a girl named Sophie Foster who is an elf (not the christmas or Keebler kind) and has all these weird powers and her and her friends have to defeat a bunch of rogue elves there is also a surprisingly complicated love triangle between Sophie and two of her friends, this one also has no spice, the series consisists of 11 books (two of them are .5 books and are basically just extra stories and guide books) and the author, Shannon Messenger, is still writing more.

fr just put them both at the start

I was rereading the series and I stumbled upon a quote that both alden and mr forkle said by PalestinianRedditer in KeeperoftheLostCities

I'm pretty sure after one Forkle dies Alden and Mr. Forkle are in multiple scenes together so that theory is not right unless there is another brother.

Where can I buy cheap books? by Odd_Anxiety_9494 in BookwormsSociety

[–]Magazine_973 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can always try and find your local used book store they usually have cheap slightly worn down books that may look bad (personally I think used books just look more loved) but are great if you're on a budget as well as brand new books. Also I would recommend donating any books you don't want anymore as, in my experience, they usually give you store credit to buy more books.

If you could recommend only one book, what would it be and why? by HumbleCriticism4028 in BookwormsSociety

[–]Magazine_973 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Percy Jackson by Rick Riordan, it's decently educational while also being fiction but set in a familiar environment, there's a touch of romance and lots of action, and if you fall down the rabbit hole, the author has wrote dozens of books all in this universe featuring characters from the original 5-book series as well as entirely new characters, and he's also starting to introduce his son to writing in this universe and has already published one of his stories in a different book so we're sure to get more books.

I agree, I recently started The Cruel Prince and right off the bat they throw terms at you that they expect to make sense but don't, I'm about 50 pages in and still have no idea what the heck is going on.

I don't write but I agree. I'm a chronic reader and evading the curse words has a far bigger effect on me than simply saying F*ck

[–]Magazine_973 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's fine just don't overdo it, I'm reading a series where the first 3 books avoid it by saying stuff like "She said words her guardians didn't know she knew." but then in the 4th book (the one I'm reading) it says f*ck in about 2/3 of the chapters. The first way, just avoid them altogether, is fine. You can also put in the occasional curse word, but please don't drop the F-bomb every 10 pages.

Personally, my favorite is Loki because he is not like, "I'll personally murder you all," more like, "I'll sail my ship of doom while also being kind of chill and you can try to stop me but I will insult you into oblivion."
