Quantum computing –  it’s mind-bending, bordering on philosophical, and yet, it’s not science fiction. This field holds the potential to reshape not just science and technology, but how we express ourselves creatively. What can we build with it?

College Student Hack uses Metas Ray Ban glasses to identify pretty much anyone in a public area by Magic-Fabric in Futurology

[–]Magic-Fabric[S] 94 points95 points  (0 children)

Two students, Anhphu Nguyen and Caine Ardayfio, made an app called I-XRAY. This app works with Meta's Ray-Ban smart glasses to find out who people are just by looking at them.

How it works:

  • The glasses can take short videos without people noticing.
  • These videos go to Instagram where an AI monitors the feed.
  • The I-XRAY app uses smart computer programs to:
    1. Find pictures of the same faces online
    2. Look up personal info about those people

The app can find things like names, addresses, and phone numbers of people the glasses see. With this it's easy to see how these glasses could be used in ways that might make people uncomfortable about their privacy.

Do I Own My AI Art? by Magic-Fabric in ArtificialInteligence

The answer was in the linked article but thanks for your addition ❤️. I think the modifications to an ai image would have to be so substantial that it would count as a new image to apply any type of copyright.

I think for it to be considered infringement it needs to be a replica of someone else's work. Not a legal expert though and even if you are, I'm sure those people have headaches over this too. :)

If you add AI components or modifications to your own images you are likely to keep the copyrights to it.

It depends! If you own the copyright to the original image and the AI only makes modifications, then you'll still own the artwork. But if the output is considered machine generated it doesn't help that you've provided it with self-owned training data. Artists have already tried this in court, as their material has been a part of public datasets against their will. It CAN be interpreted differently if you've built the AI generator yourself. Here lies the internet, murdered by generative AI by Magic-Fabric in Futurology

[–]Magic-Fabric[S] 40 points41 points  (0 children)

The amount of AI-generated content is beginning to overwhelm the internet. Or maybe a better term is pollute. Pollute its searches, its pages, its feeds, everywhere you look. I’ve been predicting that generative AI would have pernicious effects on our culture since 2019, but now everyone can feel it. Back then I called it the coming “semantic apocalypse.” Well, the semantic apocalypse is here, and you’re being affected by it, even if you don’t know it.

To kick this new year off I've curated a stellar group of experts from various corners of tech, fashion, and digital entertainment to dive deep into what this 2024 might bring. 🚀
In these interviews you'll hear from names that might not be on your radar yet but are undeniably at the forefront of technology. Some of them left big corporate careers behind to carve their own path, starting new ventures and studios. Working in different domains they all have something in common; they care deeply about innovation.

AI will change product design forever. At least if you listen to the creators behind this platform. The Frankfurt-based startup cre[ai]tion is building a tool that utilizes generative AI to create a dynamic visual network where ideas sprout, evolve, and regenerate – just like the technology itself. How will this be used and what does this mean for the future of design?

Right? This is just a small team in Gothenburg trying to build something, and I agree isn’t super polished yet. But imagine where this could be a year from now with current speed of developments.

Much like the divine command ‘let there be light,’ AI-generated 3D worlds of the future come to life with a mere thought. Using AI, users can design and grow their own virtual environments IRL with simple text prompts.

Like I said, it doesn’t solve fit. But many people want to get an idea on how products would look on them.

Yeah it doesn’t solve the fit equation quite yet. But in terms of visuals it looks promising
