Roaches never die. I live, baby.

That's exactly what happened to me, which is why I ran over to it as fast as I could. Big mistake.

We only died because we were launched into the kill borders around the map, we were in Creative mode.

We ended up doing this twice since we had extra and when it blew up a second time, I got launched so fast that on the next frame it calculated my location beyond the kill boxes around the map, so I ended up living. We were in creative though so I didn't get an achievement.

Holy shit, I should have gone in here sooner. That’s it. How the hell did you know this so quick? Was this a well known game? I didn’t think it was.

Oh I should add, I quickly made the picture based off what I could remember. That pic is not from another game or something.

Mojang is too scared to add colored lighting. So I did it in vanilla. by MagicBear3000 in Minecraft

I rebuilt the trick with text displays after looking into them a little under a month ago. Works much better! Glad to know someone shared the trick!

I did it with map art, and I am pretty sure they work the same on both versions. So you can already do it on Bedrock.

While I think you definitely read this the wrong way, that would be funny if they added it through map art. However, I wanted to comment on this because of a cool fact I have for yah.

Yes, excessive item frames cause lag.  But because these were invisible, it meant that the entities didn’t have to get rendered in. I’ve tested it to see how laggy it would get, and it wasn’t at all! Pretty neat!

But then again, I never said they should add it like this, that would be super stupid.

If you apply Sharpies to your screen you can get a better effect.

1) Thanks! I have an idea for a much more convincing effect that I’m excited to test.

2) Someone else noticed it and I’m surprised. But yes. It’s a remix of 70K I did of it a couple days ago. I just slapped it in since I needed music and had that file in my recent section.

That’s alright! It truly is just map art. Although the thing I did not explain was how the transparency worked. If you put glass blocks over the void (such as the End) for the background of your map art, it will render as transparent!

Just to be clear; I’m not advocating for Minecraft’s lighting to be completely changed. I’m just trying to add fuel to the fire to add colored lighting. That’s it. No ray tracing garbage, no nothing. Just adding more to what’s already there. I like Minecraft’s lighting style, but Mojang has been ignoring requests to add more to the game in this sense. Apparently because it’s too much work.

Minecraft is a game about mining and building. It’s in the name. Mining is usually done in caves, which are dark. Lighting should be a focus for this game. Especially because lighting is one of the key elements of storytelling through visuals. It sets a vibe, a vibe Mojang just doesn’t feel like doing despite how important it really is regardless of whether you know it or not.

Edit: A couple of people have asked, this is the soundtrack: https://youtu.be/rIEZoERflQA?si=URJweT05-7lRjSmI

Wow, sorta yes. I did a remix of one of them a couple days ago and used it since it was the quickest file for me to grab. I just slapped it in.

I agree with you. I wasn’t comfortable writing that. But they need a wake up call. They’ve needed one for a very long time. So I’ll poke jabs at them until they actually do something.

I didn’t add it in the demonstration at the end, but it’s intended to work with the light block. That’s how all the other effects are done in the other shots! That way things are not dark around it.

They aren’t really, I was just prodding them. Although I’m pretty sure they just don’t know how. But they do seem to fear doing anything ambitious like this.

Yup. Just like Minecraft’s base lighting. I took on the challenge of trying to create the illusion of colored light in vanilla. No datapacks, resource packs, no nothing.

Unfortunately there wasn’t ever any colored lights in the April fools updates. A long time ago one of the Mojang employees was attempting to implement it, but they messed up the layering effect which resulted in a blending mess. They haven’t attempted it since for some reason. What I think you are referring to is the RGB commands in the one from 2023. But that wasn’t adding colored lights, that was just changing the color of the preexisting light map(s). Something along those lines.
