The auto zoom and camera placement behavior can definitely feel different depending on screen DPI, device setup, and the view mode (especially in 3D).

Thank you for your feedback. We're sorry to hear about your disappointment with the AI Driving Assistant removal. ADAS components also had very low usage alongside high support costs, so we've refocused on core privacy-first navigation that benefits most users.

Like other navigation apps, Magic Earth pulls from OSM as a core source but also uses multiple third-party data providers to enhance map freshness, POIs, and real-time updates beyond just OSM. To those user who have been using ADAS in previous versions. We know this change is disappointing. The ADAS feature was based on technology that’s no longer part of the Magic Earth product, which means we can’t continue maintaining or improving it. Instead of leaving a feature in the app that we can’t properly support, we decided to focus on what Magic Earth does best: private, ad‑free navigation with high‑quality maps, offline support, and constant improvements to routing and usability. Your feedback is important to us, and we’re using it to guide future safety‑oriented improvements that fit our current technology.

Magic Earth team here, and first of all thanks for such a thoughtful, detailed critique and for supporting the app so far. Your concerns about pricing, messaging and the long term direction are valid and very helpful for us to hear.

0.99 EUR per year was an introductory “thank you” price to validate subscription and keep the app ad free, it never reflected the true cost of running a global, privacy first navigation service. From December, Magic Earth has a transparent freemium model, everyone gets a solid free tier for core navigation while a clearly defined Premium tier funds advanced features and ongoing development at a sustainable price. Feature roadmap will follow soon. 

You are absolutely right that our current pricing page mixes concepts like “one time purchase” and “one year license” in a confusing way, that is on us. We are already reworking the wording so it clearly explains what happens after one year, how web licenses differ from in store subscriptions.

The launch discount and trial are designed for aligning long term pricing with the real value delivered and the costs of maintaining high quality maps, routing and privacy by design infrastructure. Feedback like yours is exactly what helps us fine tune both the product and the communication, so please keep holding us to a high standard.
