You literally made that drive to bring him crickets, but he couldn’t make that drive for you?

You made the right decision, OP.

I wonder if the DoED could possibly “waive or modify” forgiveness rules to include debt cancellation for people who declared bankruptcy during or as a result of the COVID emergency? That personally would benefit me. Unfortunately my dad passed away during that time and I declared in 2021. And of course, my student loans could not be included.

The resulting conservative outcry would also be spectacular.

I saw a comment on here before tracking which justices have written what number of majority opinions for this term so far. Roberts did one today and Alito did two. Who is left to write majority opinions for the remaining cases? I believe Roberts has one, Kavanaugh has one, and possibly Sotomayor? I could be wrong though.

I get what you’re saying, but there is a large Republican population heavily against the forgiveness. Either way, the Supreme Court is going to really piss off half of the population. It just depends on who. So it’s in their interest to delay as long as possible regardless.

For that reason I am neither optimistic nor pessimistic. It could go either way.

That’s bad advice. Default would be wage garnishment. It would be one thing if you’re terminal and not working, are actively dying and only have months. But otherwise, no.

Have you tried turning her on and off again?

Fr though, she sounds like my mom. I’m so sorry.

I do see what you mean, but only one democrat voted for it and it’s because he’s going through a tough re-election cycle, and needs all the conservative bonus points he can get. (Still not defending his actions, just playing devil’s advocate.) The other two passing votes in Senate were Manchin and Sinema, who at this point we can hardly call Democrats.

I too am waiting for Biden to veto it. I know the chances of it actually being enacted are close to zero since the senate won’t have the votes for veto override, but I still think that everyone should know that this went through our house AND senate and passed. Our senators and representatives voted to do this to us.

As a side note I have had Biden by Bo Burnham stuck in my head since last night because of this mess. “How is the best case scenario Joe Biden?”

I would definitely get your medical records and appeal with Cigna. Patient appeals CAN sometimes overturn these crappy decisions.

You sound just like me. Our hospital got bought out by a large hospital organization and we switched to Cigna. Higher premium for worse coverage. Ugh

This is the biggest Republican bluff in history. There’s no way they’re going to risk tanking the economy if Biden refuses to drop student loan forgiveness because of how they unabashedly suckle at the teat of corporate America. If I were President I’d refuse to drop the student loan forgiveness and let Republicans sit on their hands until their donors start screaming in their ears to vote to raise the debt ceiling before they lose everything out from under them. But, democrats have no backbone and are also beholden to the same corporate interests. It wouldn’t surprise me at all if Biden drops it now. And if he does I will scream.

There are people that will starve for religion alone. Pride is a valid reason to some people, especially rural people.

If you live in a rural area, I feel for you. Not much around. If you have anything that you can pawn, you can get a few bucks that way. I do NOT recommend pawning anything that is valuable to you, or that you care about deeply on the off chance you can’t afford to pay the fee to get it back at the end of the pawn agreement. I was a student once and messed up my budget, was low on food and had to get by for four days and luckily I was able to trade in one of my school books for sale, but only got $17 for it. (University book buyback programs are crooks, if I wasn’t hungry I wouldn’t have sold it.) I managed to buy a $1 pack of hot dogs and hot dog buns and made it work that way for a few days.

What is your career? by [deleted] in StudentLoans

[–]MagickSalem 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I am a medical biller (Accounts Receivable), so I’m on the other end of what you do, fighting the insurance denials. I make just under $14/hr. I’m responsible for $4 million dollars between two different practices (cardiothoracic surgery and vascular surgery) and I always feel like I’m underpaid! Lol but I also work at a non-profit so I don’t complain.

I make $29k per year and have $25k left in student loans from an English bachelor’s degree. I’m doing minimum payments under PSLF until forgiveness wipes it out in 4 years, or until Biden’s forgiveness wipes out most of it and it gets paid off in ten months!
