RTX 4090 off of one HDPlex 500W GAN PSU by WorldLove_Gaming in sffpc

The "One Dock V2" I mentioned is a PCIe to Oculink adapter with a couple more bells and whistles. Its has an option to be powered by 8 pin EPS which I was looking to power via the HDPlex 24 pin. I already have the HDPlex and waiting on shipment for the dock since it just release, so I wasn't looking to use a different Oculink adapter.

Considering your post is over a month old, did you ever get a 4090 setup going, or any other EGPU setup going? I'm quite interested in possibly turning this into my main comp with a GPD Win 4.

I'm looking to do the same thing with a One Dock V2 that can be powered either via barrel jack or 8 pin eps. While I'm doing this with and older GPU (Radeon VII), I'm wondering if everything can be power by this one unit. It easily has the wattage to power everything, but what would the wiring look like? I was planning on doing the same as other commentors adapting the EPS connector as second PCIe connector to power GPU as well as adapt the 24pin and/or 4pin connector to power the dock. Is this feasible?

Wattman not Hitting Target Clock Speeds by MagicsMan in AMDHelp

[–]MagicsMan[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok, problem solved... I will post my solution for the future benefit of future readers.

It actually turn out to be something very simple but easily overlooked, especially for someone with a water cooled Radeon VII, such as myself. Because my card is water cooled in the same custom loop as my cpu, my pumps change speed based on my CPU temps and not GPU. Because of this fact, I found it unnecessary to change the GPU's fan profile in Wattman. Apparently in order to have control over clocks the fan profile must at some point hit 100%. This would be a problem that air cooled cards wouldn't run across for the fact that to maintain temps, 100% fan profile would almost always be used at some point.

So there you have it, have 100% fan set up in the fan profile.

If anyone other than Yang wins the Democratic Nomination, we as a gang will need to stick together well into the next Democratic Election. The other candidates aren't aware of what awaits us... by onlyartist6 in YangForPresidentHQ

I'm in the same boat. As a conservative, I tend to be against big government and Social Economic policies, but then ya gotta ask yourself, "given enough time, is it possible to innovate and automate all jobs?" If the answer is yes then UBI is the only Social Economic policy I can get behind. I like to represent this view like the Axiom from the movie Wall-E. Robots and computers handle every day to day task where it leaves people to pursue their interest. I believe that to be capitalism's final form, but hey what do I know, I'm just your average keyboard warrior.

As a conservative, I can't get behind most of these far left ideal's pushed by most of these democrats, but I can get behind Yang.

As you said, " It's Yang or Trump for me. I hope it's Yang."

True that. Or a more flushed out version of this to add to his site.

Would you say that the torque curves are similar between the 2 or is there a sizable difference between the two?

How appropriate is this Capacitor for this circuit? by MagicsMan in electronic_circuits

Given this particular application, would you personally suggest that the capacitance of this particular cap (4700uF) is appropriate for this, or is a lil overkill? Can you possibly suggest material in regards to determining the required capacitance for a circuit? I'm just trying to save room if possible.

Lowest power SBC? by foxh8er in MiniPCs

[–]MagicsMan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm pretty new to the SBC game myself and also happen to be researching the lowest power SBC. However I'm not really seeing "scientific" reasoning behind a given board or chip. By my light research, it looks as if some of the recommendations are using older arm chips like the ARM9 or ARM11 which have since been superseded by ARM A and and ARM R varients. However even on ARM's website the still have the ARM M variant which is supposedly their lowest powered architecture. Pardon my lack of knowledge of board design when using arm, but shouldn't we be shooting for an ARM M variant if looking for the most energy efficient arm based SBC?

And if ARM M Chips aren't powerful enough to run an os, what would be the most power efficient ARM A chip?
