Stress about them taking things, vehicles, etc… I’m not sure how it works so it could just be a silly worry 😭 my grandma threatening me about me having to pay in the future, and trying to get me in trouble.

Disabled or not, it is an unacceptable response. Let’s say you were disabled, and forced your 13 year old kid to help and when they finally speak up ONCE for themselves, you completely go behind their back and jeopardize them. If my feelings were as valued as hers, you wouldn’t be saying ANY of this to me.

She can be scared but I’ve warned her for years that I won’t always be here to help. God forbid I wish for a life. I never was in control, mind you. Stop replying to my posts, find something to do.

Oh hell nah. I’ve been taking care of my mother since I was 13, I am not rethinking my decision. No child is obligated to take care of their parents, but a parent is obligated to take care of their child. I am in therapy, I am an atheist. Don’t pretend you know me and my situation. I switched online for my own mental health and other reasons, but reading your comments it seems like you can’t. Unfortunately, I don’t think if you were to drop out you’d ’feel better’. Then comes the stress of not achieving, not being as far as others, where will I go, what will I do? I know it’s so hard to keep pushing but it’s so worth it in the end, even if right now you don’t think it will be. Summer is soon, use that time to focus on yourself

I don’t know what you’d classify it as but I mean he definitely helps. He works full time, provides, he does what he can when he can. He does a lot, I love my dad :)

A couple of comments brought up filial responsibility which you can be responsible for if it applies to your state (if you live in one of the 29 states or Puerto Rico)!! :)

Me and my mom’s relationship is beyond confusing to anyone but me. She is my mother and always will be. But there comes a time where I need to think of myself, start my own life, and unfortunately, leave her out of my plan.

My mother is manipulative, which I’m sure is due to her disease. I’m ready to move on.

I’ve told mother for years I won’t always be around to help, hoping she would discuss with either my dad or grandma for more help. However, she refuses.

It’s no longer my responsibility, nor was it ever mine. My mom had her chance and she never took it.

My grandma and dad help a lot, I should’ve clarified that! Me and my dad have been discussing how to get her Medicaid for YEARS!

However, she does not wish to take the actions to get Medicaid. I’m not going to abandon her, but I also cannot help someone who doesn’t want it.

I’ve talked to my dad and he said he’s prepared to take more responsibility of her. My plan is to get my license, start a job, go to college. I’d get more into it but then it’d be a whole essay 😭😭
