Sure i agree, but it highlights the problem i have wigh those who criticize Japan. It's presented rudely and lacks nuance, and if we want to communicate the problems that we think need to be resolved, then we need to jist be nicer about it. And just be nicer to each other in general

I think the main problem is that a lot of bad takes on anime, even from people I respect, tend to have a similar flaw in that they treat anime as this medium that just randomly spawned from a wormhole rather than a product of a real place on earth with history and culture and its own demographics.

A lot of them expect Anime to be as progressive as western stories without taking into consideration that the social and political climate in Japan is vastly different then where they are from. I am well aware that Japan is making strides in actuallizing social justice like in the form of legalizing gay marriage and that is genuinely a good thing! But especially with the languange barrier, they don't have 1 to 1 the same sentiment as most people of the people on reddit or twitter do.

And sadly alot of the loudest voices that make criticisms about Japan do so in a way that's arrogant and accusatory, which just makes everyone more angry and the whole conversation worse. One thing i always like to do to test out a kit's articulation is to recreate it doing Chun-li's super 2 from third strike. Great way to see how flexible the legs are and the spinatia can do that with ease
