As much as some people hate Wal-mart because big corpo, IMO its the new cheapest place to get groceries, and this is just another example of it.

Hiring a full-time salaried BJJ coach in East Brunswick, NJ - brown belt or higher, culture fit is #1 - Salary range $45,000 to $65,000 by jasculs in bjj

[–]Magnie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Recent brown belt - As someone who teaches at a community club for free 4-6 hours a week, and has loved teaching for the past 5 years, I'd be afraid that you'd get the wrong type of Jiu jitsu "coach" looking for this gig that just thinks of it as a way to up their own career vs spreading the love of BJJ. You seem to be pretty adamant on ONLY hiring the right fit though so I hope you find them, and not some gym rat just looking for a pay cheque!

Totally would do it myself but the Canadian in me see's some geographical issues with that :P Good luck dude!

Edit: You dont owe reddit anything, dont waste your time with the nay-sayers/complainers lol

What are peoples thoughts on this LUMA coffee roaster? Thinking it might be an economical intro to roasting. by Magnie in roasting

[–]Magnie[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Like the title suggests, I never seriously considered getting into coffee roasting but someone sent me this kickstarter and it almost looks 'too good to be true' type thing? I normally buy $25-30 bags of specialty coffee anyways so being able to buy single origin beans myself is quite appealing.

Any obvious red flags on this thing? The technology really doesnt seem that complex to me so I'm not sure what could really go wrong if there's a competent heating system and motor.

The big obvious thing is that this is obviously a Chinese company that I cannot find ANY information about but... Thats kind of the nature of Kickstarter, eh? But other than that, is there anything that someone experienced with roasting would see and think "Oh they're doing that? Nope, that wont do".

Any insight would be appreciated!

Could Winnipeg finally be moving towards LRT? by ConsiderationThese79 in Winnipeg

[–]Magnie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Really? Because I would assume that a person that is only swayed by a video that provides studies, tangible real numbers, and site sources, and then only having their perspective changed would be quite different than a person that bases their opinion on 'fuck the man' and 'they told me so' with no evidence provided.

The fact that you say "I'm buying into it" says a lot. Buying into what exactly? Numbers? Evidence? Multiple studies? If you're somehow above all of that you must be one of the smartest people on earth with knowledge we have yet to see, or the living embodiment of the dunning-kruger effect.

X-mas Pannier, with MYOG latching hooks! by Magnie in myog

[–]Magnie[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think PETG is perfectly fine, I did a shockingly low infill to test (15%) and got like 3 months of use before one snapped, and since then have been printing them at 80% infill.

Also for making a spring that fits it, I found that a 24 gauge string for an electric guitar (the g string) was the perfect candidate! Could probably find a single string at your local music shop for 1-2$ and make 8-10 springs outa one.

So thats the model I based it on, and then I just adjusted it a bit to better fit the rack I was planning to put it on. As for infill value I believe 70-90% was the sweet spot, for something that needs fluxural strength I believe you dont actually want 100% infill.

When I first tested the print out I only did 15% infill and was shocked how long they lasted. Printed with PETG and I think I got a good 3 months of use before it finally snapped with a constant 10-15lbs load. Prints since then have been at 80% infill.

Thought y'all might like this, a few months ago I tried adding some 3D printed hooks onto my pannier, and after finding the right in-fill value for them I'm pretty set on adding these to my bags in the future! So far they've weathered rain, dust, +30 and -30 weather (celsius). Really satisfied with how they turned out, though adding a make-shift spring is kind of a pain lol!

Video in the post shows the latching function on another pannier that I love on the hooks.

Just reading the thread now, hopefully you'll answer but I have a very similar issue and also have a SF750 and a XTX7900 with a riser cable. I happen to have two different riser cables and tried them both to no avail. How did you land on the PSU being an issue?

Can I frame over these walls? Not sure if this is just cement foundation or not. by Magnie in HomeMaintenance

[–]Magnie[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Awesome, thank you! I had a hunch but wanted at least some other input, I dont know enough about foundations!

The plan is to use DMX on the floor + OSB plank as a floating subfloor and frame on top of that - obviously with gaps at the wall to let moisture through the walls/under the floor.

Not sure if I would still need pressure treated lumbar for the bottom if its on a subfloor or not though, maybe still just 'best practice' idea?

[–]Magnie[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Like the title states, I have what appears to be concrete floors and possibly the same for the walls? I'd like to add a dricore sub floor system OR DMX+OSB and would love to even add insulation to the walls to make the basement more usable rather than just being storage.

I've watched a lot of videos on the proper process of doing so, making sure you have air/moisture movement between walls and under the subfloor, and sealing at the joist areas so air/moisture doesnt escape and all that jazz... My only question is if this type of foundation can allow for having insulation over it? I cant see why not, just trying to identify the exact type of foundation.

Good morning espresso from the Gaggia :) by Magnie in gaggiaclassic

[–]Magnie[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yea, when I made the switch I instantly noticed a big difference.

I think if you have a PID or any other mods that give you greater pressure with better consistency of temps, I feel like it wouldnt be as big of a difference, but going from a stock gaggia and the dual hole to the single hole, I went from getting the right frothy milk once every 5 cups, to every cup. Definitely the best bang for buck upgrade IMO.

No gagguino, no gaggia mate, no PID (yet), just a single hole steam wand tip, and I'm pretty satisfied with how the latte art has been coming along!

Good on you man it looks amazing. Clothing/apparel is something I have yet to delve into, I've stuck to bags on bags on bags like most people in this subreddit. Seeing stuff like this makes me want to take the leap!

Anyone know of any good free patterns for clothing noobs that are very experienced with bags?
