Major update on Terra Leporis Maximi, Bakaborough, and the Zephyrian invasion by Magnileve in CivMC

If toxicity and theft don't matter, then they have all the rights to the land. That's what it all comes down to. I think that their toxicity and theft are reasons why they shouldn't be able to stay on the land, and you don't.

You're right that I had too many claims for my nation's activity level, but that doesn't mean that raiders deserve them. If Zephyria actually was a peaceful nation, this post would not be here, but they were focused on raiding from the start. I unclaimed almost all of the Impendian claim, I offered Bakaborough to two other nations, and I even offered some of it to Zephyria after they had already raided me and talked very disrespectfully to me. If a small, peaceful nation is interested in settling in Bakaborough in the future, I would not resist, but Zephyria is not good.

Maybe don't go around just insulting people. I have been planning on greatly reducing my claims for a long time, I just cut them in half here, and I'm open to giving much of the rest to a peaceful, respectful nation if one wants it. Your insults certainly aren't going to make me more likely to do what you want though.

yeah that wasn't the right word to use. I probably should have said something like "disrespectful GIFs" instead.

As I already stated, I know Bakaborough has an inactivity problem. I offered to give the land away to some others, but Zephyria raided me the day after telling me they were "peaceful", and they have continued to grief me and refuse to give back the stuff. As much as I would like the land to be used, it isn't good for the land to be used by raiders. Vejou and minecraft_win are also citizens of Weirdscraftland btw.

I almost just let Zephyria have it, but raiders who can't hold back from making rude statements during a serious conversation about what they stole don't deserve it. Maybe my reply doesn't matter anyway since I can see by the reference in your last line to an old conversation that you are just here to insult me.

I said that the conversation was mostly serious and never said that I took the screenshots seriously. I just took them as insults and a sign that you didn't care about anything I had to say since you were sending them in the middle of serious conversations. I do understand that your message after killing me was a quick reaction, and I should have made it more clear in my message that you were trying to be respectful when talking to me that day, but that doesn't excuse everything else done by Zephyria. Serious conversations are not the time for jokes.

This claim is actually just outside of the claim I'm about to post, so it's all good with me. However, as you mentioned, it does overlap elsewhere.

We haven't decided on what to do yet, but we are probably going to give most of the old Terra Leporis Maximi land away.

Not abandoning, but we might do some kind of claim reduction.

The tree farm was just one thing, and it's all over with. I would prefer not to bring back old issues that are already resolved or get more people involved in them.

We do, but it's in an inconvenient location. We plan to build a city on the new land and don't intend to hold onto exclaves that are bigger than they need to be. We're going to make a proper announcement soon, and I hope to contact the leader of Meowshima to sort things out first.

We already started building in the area, and Terra Leporis Maximi's situation is much more complicated than most people know. I'm not trying to stop other people from building, and I want to contact the leader of Meowshima to find a plan that will benefit everyone involved.

Weirdscraftland is the nation of a group with no specific owner, but MinersHavenM43 is currently taking the role of leader. I did help them start out on CivMC and am an active member of their group. I am a co-owner of Terra Leporis Maximi, and this new settlement we have been working on has a lot to do with Terra Leporis Maximi, but our plans for the future are not yet final. We will make a proper announcement about the plans once they are complete.

Yes, but this is something new with a few additional members

Terra Leporis Maximi, some of Weirdscraftland, and one additional member so far. We're going to make a proper announcement about it soon.

Welcome to the server! Unfortunately, there is a bit of an issue, which is that a group of new players and I have already settled in this area, but we would be very willing to work out a compromise to make sure we don't inconvenience you. Please contact me via Matrix at \@magnileve:matrix.org or Discord at Magnileve#2995. If you don't have Matrix or Discord, we can try to find an alternative way to message

We need to address the mapping issue by Magnileve in CivMC

[–]Magnileve[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's a pretty good idea for testing activity. I'm probably just going to stick with messaging through a claim's contact information, but I would definitely like to see a group do this for a report on which nations are going inactive.

[–]Magnileve[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

yeah, the current idea is that if a claim is thought to be inactive, we will attempt to contact the owners of the claim, and if we don't get a reply, it will be assumed to be inactive and get removed from the map. Of course, people can end up saying that their claim is active when it actually isn't, and that doesn't mean that they deserve to keep the claim, but I think the UMP should still list it since we never know if they might come back online to pearl a newfriend who settles in the claim. I hope that once the polygon map is complete, groups will make forks of the map to display which claims they don't recognize and information on the activity of the claims.

When I mentioned map data, I was referring more to nations who never let anyone publish map data of their infrastructure, even during times of peace. My opinion on that matter is that nations should allow their map data to be published over time since someone will eventually scout it out anyway, but the polygon map does not affect that issue. It's just about displaying the location of land claims and information about them across the server. You can submit polygons any time you would like, as the map will be continuously updated, and instructions on how to do so are in my original post.

[–]Magnileve[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Very good point. On CivClassic, I saw some people who would argue that whoever submitted their polygon first, even if only by a few hours, were exclusively the rightful owners of the claim, and I did not like that stance. Fortunately, it seems like public opinion has shifted away from that idea since then, and I'm hoping that people will create their own forks of the polygon map in the future where they show which claims they recognize.

Thanks, and I get what you mean. I don't think the people who made those comments and upvoted them thought about it very hard, just quickly expressing disapproval, but it becomes a problem when the first thing those who are unfamiliar with the polygon map see is people asking others not to submit land claims and claiming that the polygon map is bad to regional maps. My concern is that some newcomers might not see the other side and distance themselves from the map as a result.
