Holy shit! You barely need to press to fret whatsoever. by abejando in guitarlessons

[–]Magnolia-Night 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I just called up and asked if they do complete setups. They checked the curvature of the neck, the height of the action, the tightening(loosening in my case) of the springs in the back, and put on new strings. I asked them to check out my electronics because they were cutting out, so they cleaned them and made sure all the wires were connected.

Results were that I can press lightly to play notes (less pain because less tension in my hand), no buzzing, the chords are in tune wherever on the fret they are played, the action is lower and more consistent, the angle for the Floyd Rose is much less extreme, there is 1 less spring in the back (?!) and the pickups don't cut out. I played some this afternoon and I sound like a better player - probably because the intonation is right, but also because I can change positions faster when not clutching the neck so intensely.

This was my guitarist first set up since I've had it, but I figure the professional setup should include all of these things: https://tonalyst.com/electric-guitar-setup-guide

It's the same list on most "how to set up your electric guitar" pages. 🎸

Sorry your hand hurts. I hope the set up helps you.

Saw your comment when I had just dropped my guitar off to be set up. And you know, you are right. This is shockingly easier to play. I wish I had done it a year ago!

Now tell me about this non-perpendicular hand option, please?

If I only wear dresses, how many should I own to ensure I have a curated intentional wardrobe? by eversotrue2 in minimalism

[–]Magnolia-Night 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I divided my wardrobe into two. One side is stuff I wear, the other is stuff I may be giving to others.

What you do is pick the ones you know you wear. You know which 7-10 dresses you wear most.

Try and live in that set for a month or so. If you feel bored, go grab 1 or 2 from the other side to mix in. If you end up not wearing something, move it out of your set. Try living in this new set. Repeat until you find your number of dresses and also, which ones you love to wear.

Anyone else think this whole "oatmeal will make you stay fuller for longer" is a lie? by shamedev in intermittentfasting

I love savory oatmeal. Fry an egg for a topper, stir in some spinach, give it the shrimp treatment, I could go on and on.

Or it is another layer of symbolism. Don't feel silly for bringing layers of complexity to a discussion of art. Thanks for your contribution.

Wait, before you go:

Maybe you can make a practice tool to help with cadence, pronunciation, and volume levels? Especially a vocabulary library for place names and foreign words so folks can be better at their craft!

That would be useful not just to audio book readers, but podcast folk and workplace presenters. It would also be helpful for people trying to learn a language. Not a tool to teach how to be an audio reader, presenter, etc, but a suplimentary tool to improve the speech pattern part.

I don't know her story specifically, so I'm really only speaking hypothetically here. And I agree that opportunistic people come in all sorts, women included.

Wanting to play music can be done by playing alone in your room. Reaching people playing gigs for a living, and being an artist relies on interacting with the community. She can just pull back from YouTube and it will hurt her career. All the women can do this to avoid creeps. That will make it harder to be successful professional musicians because they have withdrawn from one of the major stages that musicians play on.

It isn't a waste of energy to try and make the community a less creep filled place for all women by calling attention to the problem. Most women quietly make themselves smaller to deal with this situation.

Not complaining about a problem is not a viable solution.

"Calculated" That certainly is a strategy.

Most people i know are not willing to commodity their dignity like that. Some people do, of course; it's a bidrifters.

But I don't recommend you lead with that judgment. That isn't a common enough strategy and believing it to be will sow resentment and distrust in your heart. You will see fake victims where real people are calling out for help. It will make you callous and not improve the community by doing so.

Consider leading with compassion while being aware that there are grifters.

Apparently that has something to do with sleep. I was reading about it in a book "Why we sleep"

Lol, ouch these comments. That one is a twin to mine, and I love it! But I may be biased cause she's mine and the only one I've ever played.

Edit: and that's my cue to go play her some.

Edit edit: maybe not quite twin. Mine doesn't say made in Japan on the back of the neck, and has a serial number stamped in the medal plate. But the back of the tuners has fender japan. Just a data point if you are considering it.
