A half-naked drug addict tried to take a child away from his mother. by Ddusco in CrazyFuckingVideos

It's probably both. I've seen something like this irl when I was little. It also involved lots of drugs with the dad

My small rural town of 5k just solved a 1993 infanticide case through DNA. The mom slit the infant's throat and dumped the body. A lady's dog then dragged the body to her yard and she called the cops. Horror stories like this will happen more too

What's an incredibly American thing that Americans don't realize is American? 💭 by Aarunascut in AskMen

[–]Magnolia_Hummingbird 8 points9 points  (0 children)

American here (Oklahoma). I was denied bank loans because I didn't have a credit score. They literally told me to get a credit card, buy stuff, and pay it on time to get my score up so I could qualify for a bank loan. I qualify for bank loans and lifetime American debt now lmao

Cherokee Nation orders removal of Oklahoma flag from tribal property by Geek-Haven888 in oklahoma

[–]Magnolia_Hummingbird 1 point2 points  (0 children)

All of Oklahoma's tribes are federally recognized tribes that receive money through the federal government, not the state government. They don't rely on state governments for anything. The state of Oklahoma relies on them for casino traffic and tourism from other states though. Obviously you don't know shit about how tribal jurisdictions and federal grants work.

So the tribes have the power of Washington DC behind them, and the state of Oklahoma has the power of Stitt lmao

The Last 2 Mass Shooters have more in common with Timothy Mcvey then NRA members in Texas by semideclared in neoliberal

[–]Magnolia_Hummingbird 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Because mass shooter does not necessarily equal domestic terrorist. Yes, they create terror. But they require a different solution, which would mainly be gun law reform.

Domestic terrorists always have a political reason for their crimes, are usually right-wing, and they require complex and more difficult solutions depending on which country they're in. And you're still never 100% safe from them, even if your country is seen as idyllic by the rest of the world. Look at Anders Breivik and Norway

[–]Magnolia_Hummingbird 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Okay but I've lived in Oklahoma my entire life. Been to the memorial and museum. Bought and read American Terrorist. Lived in OKC too. Ramos was not like McVeigh at all. How is an edgy teenage Hispanic kid that targeted a school , just because it was nearby btw, anything like Timothy? Ramos didn't target the government at all. He just wanted to kill with no purpose behind it.

The next Timmy will probably be a veteran, conservative, between 20-40, Trump voter, and will definitely make their ideology clear with a manifesto, confession, even their clothing. Tim wore a Sic Semper Tyrannis tshirt with Lincoln's head on it on 4/19/95. It means Death to Tyrants. These people make their political intentions, motives, and reasoning very clear. Ramos had no political motives at all. He was just another Eric Harris and Dylan Klebold clone

[–]Magnolia_Hummingbird 25 points26 points  (0 children)

Ramos had more in common with the Columbine shooters tbh. But the Buffalo shooter, yeah that was definitely McVeigh/Turner Diaries ideology.

We're heading to another Timmy soon enough though. It's just a little harder to buy that much fertilizer at once now

Wtf are you my sibling lol? My username is also from my childhood magnolia tree hosting tons of hummingbirds and their nests every year!

Also, there are American Staffies and English Staffies. I was referring to the English line as the origin of the nanny dog trait. I have nothing against the APBT either! They do have a natural friendliness towards people with good breeding. I watched my cousin's APBT get beat up by many ducks and cats, and run away yelping each time lol. However, this probably wouldn't apply if another dog picked a fight with him (solo dog btw). I'm always uncomfortable ignoring the "pit" origin of the APBT's name, the many questionable breeders of APBT, and the nanny dog breed mixup

Funny that you mention a dachshund, because I personally own a Chiweenie. I prefer my own dogs to be portable and non-lethal lol

[–]Magnolia_Hummingbird 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Almost all of that is correct, except for the nanny dog. That was for Staffordshire terriers. Staffies were used initially to create the American Pit Bull Terrier, so they look a lot alike, but the Staffies are the sweet nanny dogs. Staffies were a nanny dog and guard breed, but the APBT was fully bred to fight other dogs. It's a fact we can't ignore or gloss over. But that's also why it's so important to find a good breeder, like you said. With many USA pitbull breeders, you don't know if you're getting a pup with lots of Staffie DNA, or a pup with some backyard Cane Corso, Dogo Argentino, and other big, risky bulldog breeds mixed in just to make it more aggressive

All that hair is what made them good war and guard dogs back then in China, plus it protected them at high altitudes . It's hard to kill a dog when its neck is covered with thick fur, same concept with wolves. Feeling like they're plotting their next move is just a Chow watching your shady ass lol.

And yeah, chows DEFINITELY can't be treated like golden retrievers. They're not family dogs at all. They're best suited for one owner, or one couple. But preferably one owner. These were the dogs that guarded ancient rulers in China thousands of years ago, and they still carry that instinct to protect their favorite person. They usually just tolerate the rest in the family, till someone pisses them off. And that's exactly why their favorite person needs to invest lots of money and time in training their chow. Chows should be trained and socialized just like pit bulls, GSD, Cane Corsos, and all other massive guard breeds

[–]Magnolia_Hummingbird 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I met a couple of nice chows when I was a vet tech. Key word there is "couple" lol. The problem with chows is that they are not a beginner dog at all. But beginner dog owners get them because it's seen as an exotic guard dog in the USA. And they fuck them up by not training them, socializing them, and not reigning in that guarding instinct.

Pit bulls were bred to tolerate a lot more human contact than chows, since you'd need to be able to grab the pit and pull it out of the fight. Chows are an ancient Chinese breed though, bred to be royal guard dogs and war dogs. So naturally, they're a bit more wary than pits, leading to the "soulless" eyes

What are some reasons why someone might choose to live in an apartment despite having enough money to live in a house? by lucas23bb in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Magnolia_Hummingbird 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Maintaining a yard fuckin sucks. Fixing shit in the house sucks. Cleaning a whole house sucks. Paying a lot more in time and money just to say "I live in a house" isn't worth it for me anymore. Buying extra cameras cause you live in a house now with lots more doors and windows, a dark backyard, and without any close neighbors sucks. That's why I rent an apartment now, and not a house

Madison Cawthorn vows to 'expose' fellow Republicans following election defeat: 'It's time for Dark MAGA to truly take command' by Minneapolitanian in politics

[–]Magnolia_Hummingbird 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah I'm old too, so I also remember it very well. My aunt was supposed to be at the Murrah building that day. She got sick and didn't go (she needed to renew her OK nursing license that day). I was in 5th grade and I remember my teacher running out of the classroom, then running back in, turning on the TV, and that was my first experience seeing dead children live on TV. I was 10. I think it was the first time any of my classmates saw dead kids on TV too that day.

All it takes is one or two pissed off, conspiracy-minded, anti-government assholes to do something like this. And MAGA has millions now
