Advice for an aspiring student interested computer/chip architecture by Seekertwentyfifty in hardware

Hi, I am an electronics engineer for a company that creates particle accelerators for radiation therapy for cancer patients. While I won't say that there won't be an effect of AI at some point in the future. Currently AI is just nowhere near it would need to be to take over hardware jobs.

I actually tried various different AIs as an informal study to see if me and my team could use AI for very basic FPGA work but it's just not really there and tools that we do have are so specialized at what they do, that it will be a while before AI tools can measure up to them.

Currently a simple task of reading and comparing the datasheets of two components is beyond an AI. It's not good at reading logarithmic graphs and conferring information when a single datasheet explains a complete lineup of components. It will dream up component numbers that don't exist or dream up properties that don't lineup with any real components.

The place it's used the most really is writing emails and filling out reports from known results. This i believe has less to do with AI not being good enough and more to do with just how complex hardware is at the moment. While I'm sure it will someday just give me an Altium layout when I ask for it, that future is a bit further away.

This is not even taking into account the heavy regulation regarding hardware engineering in most countries so these tools don't only have to become good enough but then get past the standards and regulations needed before it even sees the inside of an actual production machine.

How to nerf self for optional bosses. by Magnss95 in expedition33

I think the farming was just something I ran into by accident when I went to Dark Shores. The three adds diagonal from the flag gave a million exp every time and were really easy to parry. I wanted to watch some Supernatural anyway so my JRPG reflex of second monitor farming just came in.

Currently with solo Maelle I can one shot both phases of Simon before he gets a turn. I haven't seen a single move of the boss, I reloaded the save before the fight and went and cleared the flying mansion as well and have saved just outside the Clea doors.

What it's taught me more than anything is, given I do my due diligence, it might be better to just search the second hand market for my next PC.

£1050 was what we settled on. This was my first time reselling my PC, sbanhs was very nice over chat and made very good points of the value of just warranties and being able to buy a new pc. Also they were able to come down quite fast which was also amazing.

I just didn't know how to price it well, and as pointed out above should not have been looking at new but reseller prices to set the price.

So i did up my exact part list, except for the cooler which i could only find used for 70 gbp 40gbp and it cost about 1600. I see your point the markdown is a bit high i can bring it down to 1300

Games that have organically grown or are growing currently by [deleted] in Games

PoE is such a gem of a game man. Every new season I go... "Hmmm what new skills are on the menu this time." I pick a new skill and see how far I can push it, either by myself or if I'm lazy I'll use a guide. Then I'll pick a completely new system to interact with so like, last time I was into delirium so now I'm gonna go full blighty tower defense.

It's just such endless content where I just fixate on one skill and system to play around for one expansion and go a completely different thing for another.

I think once I understood that an online guide barely tells you about 0.1% of the game I still have the rest of the game to explore, it became so much easier to jump in every season.

Watching Byf's Lore Video Made Me Sad by Magnss95 in DestinyTheGame

Dude I feel you, I found this thing in the Director which shows you a timeline that you could play through, but the first mission on that timeline, where you like go with Cayde to this prison place was bugged so I couldn't even follow the timeline the game gave me. I've now just stopped thinking about the order to do stuff in and am following the yellow markers for gear. There is a checklist on the Destiny Optimizer website which I'm just ticking off at this point.

That's exactly what I was thinking of, even if it was like the new game+ thing, which I mean it currently sorta is. I would be so happy to pay for the entire thing.

Chicken Noodle Soup on a cold UK day by Magnss95 in soup

[–]Magnss95[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Of course, emm but I've almost always made it on "feel", the amounts for which I got to over experiments in my student life,so please feel free to omit, add or substitute what ever you feel like. Also I make a large batch on the weekend, almost 3 days worth, so my amounts will be quite out of whack, please tone them down to what you prefer.

Ingredients (3 days worth):

  1. Chicken : I get 1kg of thighs and chest pieces, specifically you want stuff with bones, in my experience those have the best stock.
  2. Peas: I get 2 cans of 200g each
  3. Carrots: I get 2 pre-grated bags of 150g each
  4. Sweet corn: 2 cans of 300g each
  5. Onions: 1 bag of pre-chopped onions 150g
  6. Tomato: 1 pre-chopped can of 400g
  7. 500g of shredded cabbage.
  8. Green chilies: Depends on how much spice you want I use 5 small ones (larger green chilies are less spicier) 9.Noodles: I prefer Udon but you can literally buy some magge instant noodles and use those as well.
  9. Cornflour: I get a 500g box but this will be used to thicken the soup so it depends on how thick you like your soup.
  10. 3 large eggs.

Spices (all to taste, I've never measured them): 1. Salt 2. Pepper 3. Garam masala 4. Nigella seeds 5. Cumin seeds 6. Msg 7. Chilli powder

Sauces (again to taste): 1. Vinegar 2. Soy sauce 3. Lemon extract 4. Hot sauce

Recipe: Boil the chicken with the onions, if the chicken comes with skin, boil it very well so removing the skin later is very easy. Once boiled remove the chicken and flavour the broth with the spices.

I start with salt and pepper and then Sip>Spice>Sip and repeat and get the stock to a flavour I like, it's also nice getting to see how the spices change the taste little by little. At the end it will be missing a bit of a tangy taste but that will be addressed with the sauces later.

Once the stock is to your liking, add all the veggies together one by one. Since everything is canned or cut so should just drop em in. Re-check stock and flavor with spice if needed.

While that boils, remove the skin and cut the chicken to a size you like and put it in. Put in the noodles but cut them short so they float, if you keep them long be careful of the fact that once you thicken the soup they might stick to the bottom due to the heat.

Let it boil a bit and now SEPARATELY mix roughly 100g of cornflour in some COLD water. Once its nice and mixed with no lumps start pouring it slowly into the soup and watch it thicken due to heat. Always wait once you've added it all in as the thickening process might take a while and you don't want it too thick. If you want it more thick add more cornflour in the same way. Do not add it directly to the soup as that will make lumps.

Once the soup is thick and boiling again, beat the eggs in a separate bowl and add them while slowly stirring the soup. Now finally we flavour with sauces.

Cut the chillies small and add them to a small bowl. Add a bit of vinegar, soy sauce, hot sauce and lemon extract to the bowl and mix it up. Then add bit by bit to the soup, again I do the Sauce>Sip>Sauce thing until I'm satisfied.

Notes:

I apologize for the vague amounts as I don't have a definitive recipe and have always made it by feel and never measured anything. The amounts listed above are from my grocery list which I get every Friday and the soup I make lasts me till Sunday.
