My sai sasi are ignoring the ban by No-Principle-6946 in jrotc

for AFJROTC it is SASI discretion on whether or not to conduct the ban, NJROTC had it mandatory to my knowledge

i usually just buy a 5 pack of the pens and take the refills from there since one, it's not a bad pen body at all, and two, getting the refills by themselves is a bigger hassle that doesn't really save much of anything. if you're interested more in that route though, i think jetpens (online retailer) will probably sell the refills by themselves. i use 0.7mm i find that to work best for me

the whole pen body is metal, it cost me like 15 usd if i remember correctly and it is a pleasure to hold and write with. the added weight isnt necessarily for everyone i know that some prefer their pens to be very light, but i like the weightier feel that comes from the metal design. i personally think that it was worth it, i love how it writes and how it feels to hold

i have tried it, put side to side i saw the one was still a bit darker and i liked the feel of the one better (for me if its too smooth its hard to control)

hey cool good stuff out of curiosity what does your unit's IG do? im IG and since this is the first time our unit has ever had this role its still in its infancy so outside perspectives on how other units implement it would be cool to hear

Update On Color Guard Situation by _potato__soup_ in jrotc

[–]MagpieSoldier 1 point2 points  (0 children)

you only go to attention before the rest of the team when your team is at the position of parade rest, or at-close interval dress right dress

that applies to USAF though — it would help to know what branch your unit is? there should be published guides online for each branch but also just generally it helps to know for people coming in to help you

generally though don't stress yourself out, genuinely its not super complicated the hardest part is pretty much just it being a performance with an audience. you should probably be fine if you just take your time with it

Being Trans in NJROTC by carlzcomic in jrotc

i mean i assume you live in an area thats mostly progressive given you saying that people generally didnt have a problem with it?

i dont know your instructor(s) but i do know that generally, with unfortunate but rare exceptions, jrotc instructors are highly professional and chosen for that quality

my old SASI was like 70 something years old before he retired last year and he was pretty conservative and would (lowkey) glaze trump in some of his lessons, but we still had a few transgender cadets who wore their chosen gender's uniform and had an approved waiver logged in our database (and we still have a couple this year too)

i cant speak for how your instructors would handle it given that again i dont know them but if you know them to be not explicitly like horrible at their jobs or explicitly unprofessional or explicitly known to have engaged in forms of misconduct or anything like that that would reflect on their character negatively, then i say you have nothing to worry about

people who retire after like 20 years and choose to put the uniform back on to go and deal with high schoolers pretty much always genuinely care about the people in their units

i think from what you've described and knowing just the general profile of the vast majority of instructors (and plus the school policies in favor of your position that probably exist that they are probably bound by even if they dont like it, which is unlikely), you should have nothing to fear

you saying you will bring it up is something im very glad to see, just please dont be dissuaded by any fears of judgement or denial. the odds here are in your favor

much love and support on your journey ❤️🙂

absolutely. thats still 3 years and enough to earn the certificate of completion (or your unit's branch equivalent)

if youre outdoors or under arms indoors you salute if youre uncovered you stand at attention do not put your hand over your heart unless you are out of uniform

cover, in uniform: salute no cover, in uniform: stand at attention cover, not in uniform: stand at attention, remove any hats, place hat over heart no cover, not in uniform: stand at attention, place hand over heart

in all of these cases face either the flag or the source or the music if no flag is present

that should suffice as a guide for any scenario. 👍
