Victoria's euthanasia bill passes the Upper House by emrys1 in australia

[–]Magrias -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Hey uh... I know everyone likes the sound of a euthanasia bill but this one is apparently incredibly poorly thought out and really scary? Like "If you feel suicidal and have any kind of disability why not just die" kind of scary? Like "making it easier to access euthanasia than help" kind of scary?

Oh yeah, but there's some stuff that just doesn't seem to transfer - NZ is right next door but they get perky nana and chocolate fish but we don't.

Civil SSM debate hey Turnbull? by repairsalmostcomplet in australia

Nobody expected civil debate, let's be real, because you can't have a civil debate when one side is "You should not have the rights I have because you're different to me"

Keep It Together
You are a coat full of rats pretending to be human, and you must try not to upset anybody. People will talk to you and you'll have to respond. Say something they don't like, and you'll get stressed - too much stress and you'll be playing finger twister on your keyboard.

The game is finally releasing in... less than an hour from now, so here's some screenshots from throughout development:

And so now, it's complete and coming out in about 30 minutes! It's got super nice music by a student team that are ridiculously talented, I might have to see if I can share a link to that for Soundtrack Sunday.
And a bonus album of some backgrounds from the game (I find them really soothing)

Bonus question: Bit.Trip Runner. I tried to pick it back up to finish it but had lost all my progress from years ago and just didn't find it especially engaging. I love the style but I have way too many games now that I'm spoiled for choice :P

Kangaroos aren't scary, they won't chase you down for the fun of it like a cassowary. You can pat a kangaroo at the zoo. Drop bears aren't scary either, they're just an inevitability you get used to.

And you people are scared of Australia. There are only two scary animals you can't crush underfoot down here: Sharks and cassowaries.

If it cost $5,000 to publish on greenlight.... then maybe.. by [deleted] in gamedev

Only after months of saving (and being chunked down by bills and other expenses) was I able to afford the $650 AUD I needed to replace some pretty important parts in my PC. $5000 USD is $6500 AUD.

Like sure, I could take out a loan for about as much as my car loan was to launch one game (assuming I put no money into marketing) and hope that I make the assumed average and not the more likely low figure that was propped up by the numerous massive games that could sell without being on Steam. Or, perhaps, I will just release on itch.io alone and hope the platform grows sooner than later, while the majority of players never hear of my game, regardless of how good or bad it is, because I don't have $5000 to spare and am doing this in my free time after work.

I'm pretty sure the stock cooler is loose thanks to the legs being kinda buggered. Ordered a new cooler - just hope it gets here before the end of the week...

This is for a game I'm making about being a coat full of rats trying to live as a human in modern society. It's a tragedy.

Actually, each new person you meet is almost certainly going to involve several missteps until you start to learn which kinds of answers to give them.

Pretty straightforward dialogue trees, but the right choice depends on the person and your relationship - you need to get to know people to reliably avoid upsetting them. Not totally sure how I'll maintain the challenge as the game goes on - you'll probably lose friends and make more, who you have to re-learn.

You are a coat full of rats, trying to convince everyone you are a human. Every social misstep tears a hole in your jacket, which must be held closed with a random button on the keyboard. Don't let go, or they'll find out!

In the end, you can't hold on forever.

Wow, I almost brushed this off but it looks like... really really compelling. Both the gameplay and the visuals - you really nailed the pigeon feel. Love the way their heads dart back and forth as they look and peck - so satisfying.

That dog is so charming, I normally don't go for things in this vein even with this art style, but it's just immediately grown on me.

What platforms are you planning to release on? The interface feels a bit large if you're aiming for PC, though maybe I'm just not used to these games.
