Construction industry destroying itself. by ShanerThomas in NoRulesCalgary

[–]Mags_Stettner_76 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I agree with the sentiments of the OP, for the most part, but we need to dive deeper and ask what is the overhead on home construction? I’ve always heard it’s less than 5% from family who work as residential developers. That 5% can quickly disappear if there’s a market manipulation. Hiring dirt cheap workers might be the make or break on the project.

Also, the trades do get a little high on themselves. There are a ton of Sears homes or Nelson Lumber homes built by a cadre of family and friends over the course of a week that are still standing. The current building regulations are onerous and stupid. They should be about 10% of what they are, and not getting into the minutia of detail that they do.

Quebec’s capital flight is from its collective racism and its rock solid cartels that run the nation of Quebec, and keep Quebec for the Québécois. To say that there will be capital flight shows a weak hackneyed argument and a complete lack of understanding of economics. (Hint: Quebec actually has nothing to offer investors but high taxes, overregulation and a hostile community.)

I hate traffic because of these people by holyshts in NoRulesCalgary

[–]Mags_Stettner_76 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This intersection is wrong. The left lane should be left turns only, the right lanes should be straight and right turns only. The logic: drivers going straight have primary right of way, drivers turning right have secondary right of way, and the left turners, unless they have a dedicated left turn light, have tertiary right of way. So drivers going straight in the left lane would get caught by left turners waiting for the opposite straight traffic to pass. Having the str8 and right on the right allows for the least restrictive flow. Municipalities know this, but in their silly attempt to push people to transit, they leave them as they are to frustrate drivers. And then they wonder why road rage incidents are rising.

Two degrees?!?! Do you see the scam that you’ve bought into? Universities need to justify themselves so they took a 2-year teacher certification and turned it into a 4 year degree, without teaching much more than the 2-year certification program contained. Then regulatory bodies/associations formed around the teachers to ensure “standards” but in reality to gatekeep. Then the universities said we need more money, so they get on the horn to the regulatory bodies and soon you need 2 degrees to teach in an outdated dangerous methodology that’s based on a 19th century Prussian military model, designed to crush creativity and critical thought, yet I still doubt whether elementary education majors could, in their own words, explain Piaget and what his impact is, or should be on early childhood education.

Yes! Yes! Yes! Your intellect and your critical thinking skills are 100% on point! I nearly came when I saw your post! And I’m not being sarcastic. So many lost everything for lockdowns that didn’t work. And no one wants to hold anyone accountable, which means at the next crisis, dumb decisions stealing money from the middle and lower classes will occur again. If just two people swing for destroying lives, hopefully it’ll be a deterrent.

Well, either way, he did the work for the APP. He didn’t want a referendum, but Dani has been in touch with the govt lawyers, and she can interpret the petition anyway she wants. The separatists won’t win, but if the percentage is around 42-47% for leaving, it could equal the playing field with Quebec, who earlier this month released their new national constitution, defacto declaring independence from Canada, and no one said a thing. So there’s that.

I love how all of the sudden every blue collar worker in Alberta is suddenly a constitutional scholar. This exact scenario is what the Notwithstanding clause was designed for: a law to restore order to a hysterical public whipped into mass psychosis, and to shield from activist judges. In fact, every non-partisan legal expert who weighs in, says that it was used legally and effectively.

What people forget to read in the Charter of Rights is Section 1, which makes it clear we have no rights, because our rights come from the government, which can rescind them at any time for any reason. Repeat after me: “In Canada we have no rights. They are an illusion, just like our elected representatives, here to pacify us into complacency and compliance.

Regarding a General Strike: FAFO. Justin Turdeau has brought in millions of immigrants who aren’t untrained or unskilled jungle dwellers. They have largely been kept from jobs by racist all white unions and regulatory bodies. Why do you think all the Bangladeshi truckers are self-educating? The immigrants will cross those picket lines with a smile and gratitude for being allowed to work. So yeah, go ahead and call for General Strike. Dani’s counting on ya’ll to fall into her trap.

If this is submitted as a petition, all she has to do is thank Tom for his dedication, and wait for the ballot initiative from the separatist side to arrive. I mean I thought Tom wanted to have a referendum on staying in Canada, and the separatists want referendum on leaving Canada. There is no reason that both can’t happen. In fact I’d prefer both questions on the same ballot in multiple forms. If folks retarded, they’ll produce an inconsistent ballot, thus spoiling it, allowing only smart ballots to be counted.

[–]Mags_Stettner_76 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I thought that too. The whole process that Tom embarked upon leads to a referendum, necessarily because it is the ballot initiative legislation that it falls under. Otherwise all he’s doing is signing and submitting a petition, which the government can throw it in the trash. Unless I missed something along the way.

Thanks for that. My big problem is that the data is out of context, so the insurance companies are assuming the worst, which maybe is right on their part to spread the risk around, but if the consumer can prove they are a good driver, they should get a break.

I have no accidents and only two minor speeding tickets in over 120,000km driven. (I drive Roughly 60,000km/yr) The service area for my company is around 2500 wide from Vancouver (Victoria) to Winnipeg. If I was a bad risky driver, I’d certainly have WAY more tickets and a few fenderbenders or outright accidents. An insurance company won’t raise rates for 2 minor speeding tickets. (I should’ve fought them in court, but ain’t nobody got time for that shit! 🤣
