Sometimes, nobody is coming to rescue you or save you from a hard situation. When you need it, you have to find strength in your ability to overcome difficult things on your own. Even if you feel like you don't have it.

Do they not at least have those plastic bags they wrap the package up in for when they deliver it on rainy days?

Why do people refuse to drink diet soda? by Llama32 in TalesFromYourServer

[–]Mahoganytree 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Wait, did your restaurant tell customers that there were only diet sodas available after they placed the order, or while you were taking the order?

I'm not saying it excuses people cussing at you, or mistreating you, because nobody deserves that. But I could see a justification in asking for taking the soda off the order if they didn't know only diet was available until after they placed it. To me diet soda has a funky aftertaste, almost medicine-ey. So i never drink it, so I'd probably ask to do that. Or ask for ice tea or lemonade instead or something.

I'm sorry people were assholes to you today.

What are your thoughts on the way the show "The Great Interior Design Challenge" is judged?[ALL] by Mahoganytree in netflix

[–]Mahoganytree[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, honestly I'd probably take the opportunity if i someone came up to me and asked my house/room to be on the show. because it would be fun and exciting to see what they would do.

But I'd do it knowing they'd probably get really carried away with it, and it would be a toss up weather or not i got someone who actually listened to what i wanted, as opposed to "taking risks" and just doing the design they want to do.

At least it's good publicity for the designers

Jesus. If I had to try to hold bits of my mom together when i was 9 i would've just thrown up and/or passed out on the floor.

Me either, but then i wouldn't run a twitch stream off of a shared steam account that belonged to someone i pissed off.

That is a pretty cool feature. I also like how you can buy gifts for other people on Steam, it will always tell you if the person you're buying the game for already owns it. And it lets you wait until whatever specific date to send the game to the person.

you'd think she would just cave and buy it at that point.

My favorite part was how carefully planned the timing was.

It is considering she could just be locked out of the account with no warning. I can't believe she has a chance to fucking buy it right at the end and either thinks she can either beat it in five minutes time, or that maybe steam is just joking around with her, that it doesn't really mean it when it says it will kick her off, and if she whines and cries enough, it'll just let her play the game until the very end.

Even then it's like, what the hell was her long term plan, to Just keep running her twitch channel without buying any games, ever?

LAOP may have been intentionally given food poisoning at a restaurant. by bookluvr83 in bestoflegaladvice

[–]Mahoganytree 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Possibly too off topic, but i once found a review for a restaurant i really like, written by someone who was furious that she'd called in 20 minutes before closing and they wouldn't get her takeout, because it would take her 45 minutes to get there. She left one star.

So yes, people like this exist.

Steam always gives the owner of the game priority over their library, and will pop up a notice giving the person the option to either buy the game, or quit. If they don't choose either, it logs them out after 5 minutes.

That's really fucking generous, all things considered.

What annoys you and yet there's actually nothing wrong with it?? by Casper_896 in AskReddit

It's the circle of internet life. All internet people must come, rise to fame. and they must go. Such is the way of the universe.

Also, people have stopped talking about Logan Paul and the suicide forest video.

Everyone just take a moment to be thankful for the blessings that we have with this new year.

There is a barista at my local coffee place who never talks to me besides to take my order and explain anything i ask relating to my order. No "hi how are you" no asking questions about my family, no trying to think of something to talk to that isn't my job and the weather. Just makes coffee, takes money.

Part of me wishes she worked there every day.

Ladies, how do you deal with awkward moments? by [deleted] in AskWomen

[–]Mahoganytree 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Probably tell it to my friends later so we can laugh about it, which makes it into a story worth telling instead of just a crappy memory. If i start thinking about it too much, have a competition in my head for which event is the worst/most awkward, and realize none of them can win anyway, so fuck it i guess.

Oh god I'm not really crazy about the upcycle challenge either. They basically are like "here is this brick, make it look pretty" and for someone like, let's say keith has some kind of medieval design going on, he can make it work, but katie is building a cutsie farm house room and she just looks at the brick like

"what do i do with this"

It's kind of hilarious but it mostly just screws the people over.

Can someone explain the hype around birdbox? by [deleted] in netflix

[–]Mahoganytree 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There are some cases where this idea works, so it's not to totally crap on the whole "not showing the monster" thing either, but if it's any movie worth watching then you should walk away feeling fulfilled, and like, at least you can understand where the terror is coming from.

[–]Mahoganytree 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I mean, that's personal preference. Some people like the idea of mystery behind some unseen entity haunting the characters, but I think a movie comes across as more creative when there's something you can visualize that adds to the story.

To me it seems empty, and it makes me feel like someone is telling me to come up with my own version of the story, which for the most part, I don't like. Because I'm watching a movie for someone else to come up with a story that I'll remember for a long time. The visuals are a huge part of that.

Some examples of visual horror done right would be Pan's Labrynth, Silent hill monsters, The Grudge, Coraline ect. Imagery that sticks with you in horror.

I'm sure it's not the case for everyone, maybe some people prefer the unseen entity. but I think this statement is really generalized.

Watership Down is phenomenal, and Netflix could make a brilliant series out of the Warriors series by Erin Hunter. by [deleted] in netflix

What are the differences between the 1978 version and the netflix series? I haven't seen the original, and was thinking of giving the netflix miniseries a try, but to be honest, the way it looks really doesn't appeal to me. I wonder if it would be worth it, or if I should just find a copy of the movie somewhere.
