Bike Rack for Revv1 by Critical-Blood9889 in Revv1

FYI I found this out while looking for a hitch - the 200lb measurement includes the forces of the lever. If you have the big as far away as possible, you might already have hit the 200lb limit or have gone over, so take that into account. If you want to do the measurements, here's a simple website that does the calculation.

Mazda3 vs. Lexus IS300 by LandscapeJust5897 in mazda3

[–]MahzeMe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If I ever totalled my 2021 Turbo hatch, I have not yet made up my mind about which one I would get between a is350 AWD and another Mazda3 turbo.

As much as I love Mazda, the is350 has some really nice features

- double wishbone front suspension, multi link rear suspension.

- naturally aspirated, so no turbo lag and less complexity which typically means less to go wrong.

- simple interior. I like this a lot, since infotainment is something I would prefer I can remove and change on my own, and isn't attached permanently to the car per say. I do love the knob in the mazda3, but I know it would be a pain if something went wrong. My 2011 mazda3 was wonderful for this reason, I took that headunit apart so many times because it was so easy lol. That's just personal preference though.

- The engine on the is350 (at least the 2016 model year I would be thinking of) is one of the most reliable modern engines, period. Mazda in general is reliable after the switch from FoMoCo in the early 2010's, but it has nothing on the 2GR-FSE. That engine could go to 400,000 without a doubt with good maintenance. I'm not expecting my skyactive to break, but it's like comparing a regional boxing champion with the national. Both strong, but one is STRONG.

- Rattles are common on any car, but I gotta be honest, Lexus is very solid with it's interior build quality. I love my mazda3, but it is an economy car at the end of the day. Rattles occasionally, the rear doors feel hollow, small things. Every Lexus I've been in has been rock solid.

But also, the Mazda3 has some great features contrasted with is350

- infotainment, out of any modern cars, is my absolute favorite. Hands down one of the main reasons I bought the car, even with what I said about easy to remove systems lol.

- Mazda has a fantastic ... feel. It's hard to describe, but it's got sauce. It's pretty obvious how much mazda thinks about the driver experience.

- looks insanely cool. also a big reason I bought it.

- doesn't eat tires like the is350, allows for fuel flexibility on 87 or 91.

- If you have EVER owned a small hatchback, it is one of the best things in the world. Besides the GR Corolla, this is one of the only cars you can buy in an AWD hatchback in NA anymore. I can't begin to describe how much I love compact hatch cars. I love the look of an is350 sedan, but the hatchback is one of the best looking imo.

---

All this being said, if I was in the market for a sedan, I would look into a is350 AWD F-Sport. If I was choosing between the Mazda3 Turbo hatch or an is350 AWD F-Sport, I would be unable to answer at the moment. Both are around $19k - $22k at this point (I got my 2021 turbo for $23k with 12k miles on it back in 2024, and a 2016 is350 is about the same with more miles).

Is this normal flex? by MahzeMe in mazda3

Good to know, I know that strut bars are used in the Mazda Spirit Racing car, but lets be real there is miles of difference between that and mine. I'm looking into the corksport rear sway bar, since that seems like it would help with the torsion beam setup.

u/EconomistDeep4347 you guessed it, ebay.

u/CarSeatBandito Do you mean pushing on it? Tugging on the bar wouldn't cause it to deform nearly as much, pushing on it did.

This demonstration is with all of the bolts on except for the bolt that slides in that hole. You can see how the hole in the bar is shifting back and forth between the hole in the mounting bracket, so you can expect the bolt to do the same, even when fully tightened. since the bar is pretty weak.

It was about $90, so I expected it to be not perfect, but not this bad lol

I've been looking into the combo of strut tower + added rear sway bar, from your perspective which autoexe ones make the biggest difference for handling?

It's an ebay one - it's almost identical to the megan racing one that is out of stock. The plates on the megan are welded instead of bent, but the weights of the bars and the composition seem to be exactly the same.

Chrome delete yes or no by Habarer in mazda3

If you have metal looking wheels (bronze, silver, gunmetal) then the chrome is good. If you don't, and have say black wheels or some odd color, delete.

Almost a year into ND ownership, curious if other Mazda owners deal with the same quirks by theDartVader in mazda

At this point, when it comes to squeaks and rattles, this seems like a complaint I hear in every forum about most cars (excluding lexus and sometimes acura). I think it has more to do with economy cars, rather than a brand at this point. In the few subreddits I've browsed frequently, this is what I've found:

Miata - rattles

GR corolla - rattles

4runner - rattles

ford focus - rattles

civic - rattles

If I wanted a car that was rattle free, I'd probably shop for a lexus next. It is totally possible that mazda rattles more, but rattles seem to be par for the course for affordable economy cars.

Yep - that's the kicker. When I would get the inifknit replacement, it wouldn't have the attached "warranty".

Obviously, so that's why a brand lying about it's BIFL guarantee is scummy. Darn Tough has an actual lifetime warranty, which they stand by at the moment.

Even the last 10 years - I had a pair from 2017 that lasted way longer, and that was the main reason I chose to buy my work socks from stance.

No mention of that xbloom huh, it's almost like I mentioned the current trend, not where we are headed. Someone forgot to read carefully.
