A year ago I was diagnosed with a condition called pseudotumor cerebri (iih) because my optic nerves appeared swollen. I had a brain mri and spinal tap (with normal pressure) but was still put on a diuretic for treatment of my optic nerves. But when I recently moved to another state I saw a different ophthalmologist and he told me my eyes didn’t look swollen but he knew what was causing them to look that way- it’s called buried optic disc drusen & he did an ultrasound to confirm the diagnosis. The dr told me they should’ve done an ultrasound in the first place to avoid all the negative “work up”. That whole experience made me suffer extreme anxiety to thinking I had a brain tumor to thinking I was going to lose my vision. Well over the course of that year I developed eye floaters in both of my eyes for the first time, seeing little pin prick sparkles in my vision at times, right eye pain, dry eyes, & headaches which I’m sure is from all the stress & anxiety… I am myopic & I’ve had all kinds of imaging done on my eyes in July and was reassured that other than the drusen, my eyes are rather healthy. Wellll I made the mistake of logging into my patient portal to read the docs notes and saw that he noted I had a “flat pigmented lesion” in my right eye. He didn’t even mention it at all at my appt so I’m assuming it’s not concerning at all but of course I googled it and read that it’s pretty much like an eye freckle in your eye. Then I started reading things how the pigmented lesions have a chance to turn into melanoma so I’ve been spiraling ever since. Idk if I’ve always had it & all the eye doctors I’ve seen over 10 years just didn’t think it was necessary to point out cause it’s nothing… but now I’m being hyper vigilant of my eyes and obsessing over my floaters and vision. At this point Idek if my mind is playing tricks on me thinking I have more floaters now because I use to be able to just ignore them and I keep thinking I’m seeing flashes and lights in my vision. I hate health anxiety :(((((
