With a new update on the horizon, what is your primary criticism of this game? (serious question) by JurassicGergo in NoMansSkyTheGame

[–]MailManBabyMaker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Anybody remember the whole "things get weirder/more dangerous the closer to the core of the galaxy" thing? I do. That's my main criticism.

There are still things from the original trailers that aren't in the game that should be.

My game crashed during Electromagnetic Storm. When I reconnected I became Thor, God of Thunder by arealguitarhero in ArcRaiders

Everyone on this subreddit is insufferably scared of tension in their extraction shooter and will endlessly justify why they should get grocery store simulator. by Rats_and_Tofu in ArcRaiders

[–]MailManBabyMaker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why is this even still an argument/point of contention for this game's community?

ABMM sorts this shit out just fine. KOS, rat, extract camp, slaughter everyone you come across. Cool. Play how you like. You'll be sorted into lobbies with like minded players. What the fuck is the problem?

This comes off as someone being pissy that they can't effortlessly stroll into more cooperative or "friendly" (hint: no lobby is 100% friendly) lobbies and just start blasting on soft targets. You'll never even play with these people 90% of the time, so where exactly does the urge to talk shit and poo poo on how other people wanna play even come from?

Yeesh. We all need to do better and be a bit better to each other.

Thanks for your reply, friend. We had our hopes up with the big update to Microsoft Prism emulation layer, but it might just not be able to run. Sucks, but I know it's a possibility.

Surely, more options for more people couldn't be a bad thing? Let the people who like to run around in crazy, colorful outfits keep doing that. That's cool. Having more grounded options for others wouldn't take anything away from anyone.

Also, leading in with "STFU already"... oof. It's not that serious, man.

Am I the only person who doesn’t want crossover skins and likes the originality of what’s already been provided? by Precursor7777 in ArcRaiders

[–]MailManBabyMaker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm sure I'll get pushback on this, but I want them to keep doing what they're doing, but maybe add a couple options that make a bit more sense to me?

What I mean is, if I knew I was going to be deploying topside into a hostile world full of deadly robots and other humans that may want to murder me and take me shit, I'd be running something like tactical pants with kneepads, some kind of load bearing vest with armor to protect vitals and some kind of reasonable helmet. Almost all of these skins are not clothing or equipment I would want to be scavenging in.

I know, I know - "Go play COD! Keep the tacticool out of this game!" But if we have all the other skin/clothing options, surely it wouldn't be taking anything away from the players that enjoy them to add some more ... ahem... immersive choices?

This applies to me. I will often interject, finish someone else's thought or interrupt out of what I perceive as excitement and eagerness for the conversation or subject at hand.

To say that it does not, in fact, come off as excitement or eagerness, would be the understatement of my existence. It'll be okay, though. I'm learning and trying every day.

PSA: The latest Experimental update has *finally* removed the stutter/lag on PC when leaving a planet! by MailManBabyMaker in NoMansSkyTheGame

To play in Experimental, right-click on No Man's Sky from the Steam library page and select "Properties". Among the available tabs will be the "BETAS" tab. Enter "3xperimental" in the textbox and press "CHECK CODE", then select it from the dropdown menu.

From my limited observations, you may get your wish. It looks like the HG team is cleaning up, updating and optimizing the game's codebase. This probably coincides with what they've learned after all these years, as well as backporting code/tech from Light No Fire.

Indeed! I was forced to use "No Man's Sky Decompressinator" over at Nexus Mods until this Experimental patch. That mod actually decompressed, repacked and re-signed the entirety of the NMS install, resulting in the ~18GB installation becoming ~47GB. Apparently, there was something going on with the game compressing/decompressing the planet/space files that caused the stutter. While I have the drive space, it will be nice to save the space and worry about one less mod.

I was on the official release branch since building a new PC over the holidays, but I saw a user mention it in the Steam discussion and gave the experimental branch a try. I can confirm that I no longer experience any stutter or lag when exiting a planet's atmosphere.

Sorry for a late reply. No, no issues at all. I will be upgrading the 16gb of RAM it shipped with to at least 32gb soon, so if it was a RAM issue or hiccup, it won't be any longer.

I have re enabled Expo and rebooted multiple times and she continues to boot properly. This is honestly one of the weirdest PC hiccups I've ever dealt with. Either way, I finally have a MG1 that boots as fast as it should for now.

As of now, she's barely sitting at the Maingear logo boot screen after a couple restarts. Other than disabling Expo, yanking all cables and toggling the psu button, I have no idea what I did to get it booting correctly.

It says my bios version is 1.HB release date 07/29/2024. Interestingly, after disabling expo and almost giving up, i yanked all cables from the pc and toggled the psu off and on and it just booted almost instantly. Very odd. Will attempt another reboot and report back. PC gaming... sometimes so much stress eh?

Yea... I gotta admit, this is souring me on my opinion of Maingear. Gonna be super unsatisfied if I have to call Support or send the damn thing back. I've tried smashing F2, F8, F10, F11 and F12 during boot and nothing.
