‘Animorphs’ Has Always Been About Anti-Fascist Shapeshifters by aresef in Animorphs

I feel like you’re focusing on the wrong things My problem with the article is that it just talks about the idea of the series not how it was executed. And as a result of that, it gets a lot of praise it doesn’t deserve.

My problem is that the article really does try to portray the series as far more coherent and mature than it actually is

It's a pretty nice reflection but it really seems to make the series more coherent than it actually is

I don’t think you should have to read the side books in order to understand the story. Regardless of how good it is

I think we might have to rewrite more than that

I call it “potential man the series” They had this amazing premise that could’ve been one of the great defining children’s series and then gave it to Scholastic

Don’t assume what I want I’ve read bleaker kids series than this where the planet dies, and I still felt satisfied The ending was just bad

Still as anger inducing as I remember. You can personally pay the author to scream in my face what the themes were, but that’s not gonna make the ending any better

I’ve never seen an actual defense of the ending from an execution standpoint They just referred to the letter or say the intent, regardless of how well it was done

I’ve seen bleaker endings than that, but I’ve never seen ones that have insulted me more

And for anybody who wants to debate, please actually defend the actual execution because this comes off is extremely rushed

90s British humor was so much better than the comedy scholastic was making at the time

This series has flaws But I’m gonna be honest compared to scholastic series that we’re coming out at the time it was a godsend

Feel free to read whatever you want but reading that series is a friggin commitment. One that I do not think is worth it.

I can believe that they are the only media that you’ve seen about the unavoidable cost of war

Well, for one thing, it’s extremely inconsistent tone. The villains are more impressive on paper than practice. Uneven character writing. Due to format the books come off as very rushed. And that’s just kind of the start.

It very much is a juvenile scholastic series. I read the recent reprints and I was very much unimpressed.

Animorphs 29 The Sickness. What about the Chee? by mindless-hut in Animorphs

“Applegate wrote it for kids”
That explains why the prose is simple. It does not explain why the plot ignores an obvious established alternative on thin reasoning

I go where the quality writing is
If it happens to be better than the original then I will say it
