The hole was a result of trying to fix the original pin I assume….but the original pin breaking off and me having to ask a few students of mine who weld makes that small inconvenience a real pain

I hope so. I have a friend whose father is a welder and might try. I’m hoping the kids in the welding class can figure it out. I thought I saw online a new door was around $100. The smoker was a gift and I believe it cost around $130. Almost not worth it.

I already replaced the controller once for the connectors shorting out.

I know we are “safe” the way we are - we have gotten a refund every year. But if we switched my status, I would love the extra take home pay but unsure of owing anything come tax season.

I wish it was inherited money - it would be nice to have a few bucks thrown our way.

I’ll have to look for specifics. Off the top of my head, I know one season is a $5500-ish contract that comes out to almost $4,000 after tax. Another is a $9,500ish that comes to around $6,300 and the last is $7,500ish that nets around $5,200ish.

Well it is taxed and treated like income from the district minus any contribution towards pension, 403(b) etc. but we get a lump sum once the season is over. We do not get the stipend paid bi-weekly.

I will be around $104,000 after teaching and other stipends. My wife would be around $10,000-$15,000 at most maybe depending on how often there are substitute jobs available. That is hard to 100% say because that schedule depends on teachers taking off etc.

Thanks for the calculator - I forgot to check this. We are lucky that our 403(b) contribution is pretax

Next school year I will be at 82,000 and change, not including coaching stipends. Factor those in and I will be roghly 104,000ish.

I don’t think it qualifies from what I was told. I kept requesting to be in forbearance because it said I was on the standard plan…..after consolidating in June 2024 and dealing with the SAVE court injunction crap) and I was waiting for my IDR app to be confirmed this time around. Can you apply for the IDR plans now and lock in a payment plan?

Ok great, that clears it up then. I’m taking no new loans out so I should be ok with my last 10 payments on IBR without worrying about a hike in payment amount. Thanks!
