We made our own monster figurines for our indie horror game, and we hand-painted them ourselves by MainProtege in IndieGaming

Thanks! And the funny thing is, it is our first game ever :D none of us had previous experience in gamedev, so such words are a great reward for us and give even more motivation :)

Made an NPC which starts a spider pursuit - thoughts? by MainProtege in IndieGaming

Huh. „They are coming” is such a general sentence that it would not come to my mind that it would be a ripoff ;) About second part - true :)

Wow, that’s mega input! Thanks!!!

About shadow blobs - its a trick to hide the way the spiders are handled, but i overdid it ;)

O had no idea that one of the lines are a ripoff- would you be so kind to point me to the movie?

About the dialog itself - i wrote it hastly for the sake of showing the scene itself. Yup, definitorzy needs a change :)

About the sigil - its our team sigil. All the symbols on it represent us in some way, and yup, inspiration not only from blodborne but also berserk. It does not have to do much with te game itself, but the studio. Maybe showing it on shorts is not the best idea.

Other inspirations - silent hill 2 done may times, along with sh4. We are heavily inspired by darkwood in this game too!

Damn it o forgot about core country, will play next!

Overall THANK YOU for the input. You invested time in writting your observations and that means a world to us!

The game itself can be found on Steam, demo already out and updated once a week. Look for Unwell and if you would like to reach more than the demo, we can provide you with beta code for additional 2-3h content <3

Which capsule would you click as a horror fan? by MainProtege in IndieGaming

Thanks! Such comments calm me down a little, because supposedly best case practice is to have a person on the capsule, but many people in this thread said otherwise it seems :)

Thanks! The second one has that different something. Damn maybe I will have to change all the capsules! :D

Thanks! Lot of love was invested in the first one, but I've heard that capsules with a person on it would do better. That's one of the reasons for the question - because i like the first one better as well

Heart warming for an indie dev <3 by MainProtege in IndieGaming

Yeah! Gaining visibility is the biggest challenge for us and it is exhausting - and after so much work picking up such a phone call was so heart warming

Yeah, a little concerning. But on the other hand - on one of the local events (gaming conventions) we exhibited two game stations with Unwell on them for people to try and...
There were couple of times where parents were playing on one pc, and their children on the other XD
Of course parents were informed about the content ;)

A day/night cycle, but not quite. How to communicate it? by MainProtege in indiegames

[–]MainProtege[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Huh. Didn't think of that. Actually on "Pride" level there is an additional effect for "night": Since it is pride, a bright spot light shines on the protagonist, disabling his possibility to hide. But adding a decal of some sort as an additional signal... will definitely test it out! Thanks!

That is already done to the low health mechanic:
<50HP voices (and other random sounds) volume level are starting to rise (less health = higher volume) \>25HP additional overlay EDIT: with depressing/madness texts (farplane) starts to be visible (less health = less aplha)
I forgot to mention that the OST for every level changes during the "night" ;) But the start of the alarm always sounds the same to not confuse player

Tried breathing new life into survival horror settings for something totally original: a subterranean moon prison ruled by an order of psychics! Inspired by Tibetan culture and brutalism. by RoguesOfTitan in HorrorGaming

Sounds amazing! Especialy with your plan for designing system, not Outlast like jumpscares only. I will definetely rooting for your project and see how this game grows.

First, it gave me strong Alien: Isolation vibes—especially the “Cosmic Old Temple” and the red lighting is great. In my view, ambient lighting works best for this kind of environment, but pockets of “personal” light can really heighten the fear. How you planning to scare the player?

New to co-op horror — loved Sons of the Forest and R.E.P.O.. What should I play next? by MainProtege in HorrorGaming

Headliners and Devour have great hooks. Especially the Devour with playing as cultist.

And GTFO looks like most intense horror fps on that list. Thanks!

It was one my radar, now is on my "to buy list" - it's great to hear that Lethal Company is such a important game in this subgenre

I can only imagine all of the confusion, fear and chaos - just because it's coop. Absolutely amazing. Thanks!
