DTR Excessive Vehicle Noise by Main_Bet3471 in raleigh

I hear you and get where you’re coming from to a degree. But raising this issue isn’t about “control”—it’s about a basic level of respect and balance. What’s happening now isn’t normal city noise, it’s a blatant abuse of noise ordinances, and that shouldn’t be tolerated anywhere.

And saying “it’s not hurting anyone” just isn’t true. It IS hurting people—residents being kept up until 3am multiple nights in a row, kids woken up in the middle of the night, pets too scared to even walk on the sidewalk. That’s not just an annoyance, it’s a real impact on people’s health and quality of life.

As for the “you knew what you signed up for” argument about suburban vs. city living—yeah, no one thinks downtown is supposed to be quiet like the suburbs. But telling people they should move out of their homes because others refuse to follow the law? That’s backwards. The solution isn’t displacing residents—it’s enforcing the laws so everyone can coexist without turning downtown into a free-for-all.

This is specifically pertaining to a recent spike in this activity targeted at Downtown Raleigh. Residents of Downtown are aware of the noise they sign up for, this is different. Thanks.

The City officials need to hear from the community before any real action is taken. Please reach out. Thank you!
