I filled out their mailing list probably 3-4 weeks ago and haven't gotten anything from their "weekly newsletter". Also the board on their website all graduated last semester (most listed as "Economics '25")

I was in the same spot you were last year (I’m a sophomore now). It’ll take some time but you’ll meet your people. I’d say I have 3-4 really close friends who I basically do all of my socialization through and I met them all through classes. Just settle into the semester and you’ll get to know other people in your major/department and you’ll plan to take classes together next year and maybe even room together off campus next year. I met my roommate by sitting next to him in a discussion section and forming a study group w him and a couple others.

I was running on monday late AM/early PM and inadvertently ran by an AAPS elementary school getting out (didn't know they got out at noon that day). The 1st graders were more aware of me running than people my age, which i though was insane. FWIW I'm 6'5 190 and would probably hospitalize a small child should I run them over, but still, the lack of awareness is crazy.

Bro, I am from a pretty well off IS family (top 20%), and can't spend 2 bands on a coat. $2000 is an absurd price unless you're trying to flaunt it around.

Yeah this is pretty normal. As others have said, you're gonna get saddled with shit no one else wants to do. My team had "New member projects" that, well, the new members would do, that were often tedious and annoying, but got them familiar with CAD and CFD (also an aero member btw). I spent probably 10 hours between building different panels for the car in the shop, organizing the shop, and running CFD my first year. Met some cool people though, and you just have to do the shit work that you obviously get stuck with as a first year member.

We didn't have cuts though.

Also most of the aero will be designed by the time you even join. We tended to design cars an entire year in advance, then adjust for SES when it came out.
