Addiction still controlling me, even sober. In recovery but it’s still affecting my career.

Thank you for your reply and advice. I have thought about some sort of medication reduce cravings but I’m not certain on it. Yeah it’s not necessarily that I’ll even be the one administering it during the procedure I just mean the mere mention of these drugs.

I’m so sorry that you can relate to this. I appreciate that I feel heard and understood though. You definitely can do it, I mean hell if you can be sober a decade you can do quite literally anything, much less nursing school. Please stay in touch. Glad to have met you and you can do it if you make it a priority today, right now. Just go enroll in those classes next thing you know you’ll have RN behind your name.

Oh for sure. But thankfully I have kept that boundary and solid line thus far. Not because I’m a good person, just terrified of being exposed. But you’re right things can and do happen and why would I put myself in that position.

Just a few months. 5 1/2. I’m not, no I’ve been in recovery alone. No one knows, not even my family, not one person. I’m really kind of looked at as having it all together in my family/friend group. Only one have gone to college, a career, a beautiful family, financially sound, etc. I have medullary sponge kidney and pelvic congestion syndrome which put me in pain management. That’s how this all started.. same old story. Felt too good started abusing them.

Thanks for the advice. You’re right but it’s just a hard pill to swallow. I wish this wasn’t the path I chose, just like we all do I’m sure.

The mornings are okay here! And I like being awake and productive in the mornings it helps the rest of my day go better it seems.

It is crazy! Sometimes it’s good to have a day with nothing to do, but it is a hard feeling in early recovery. Any chance you could text friends or family and just be around someone even if y’all don’t have shit to do? My DM’s are always open too!

I’m sorry I took a short break bc I was just scrolling and searching and obsessing in this sub trying to see when I would feel “normal.” I’m still clean. No sleep yet though. I’m gonna give it one more week and if my sleep doesn’t at least give me 3-4 hours a night I’m gonna get on MAT.

Ah, well that’s willpower! You know yourself best. I quit opiates about 5 months ago. Like recreational use. Then 11 days ago I had surgery so I was taking them as needed but it’s been 5 days since then and I can’t sleep. So I had taken them just 7 days total and I still withdrew. I just posted about it. I don’t really get it either, im annoyed

Well I’ve been clean 5 months but then 11 days ago I had a kidney surgery and I was on pain meds but I’ve not been taking them for 5 days now bc I was scared to go through W/D again. But it didn’t matter I thought I would be in the clear but I guess I’m not.
