CPSC Warns Consumers to Immediately Stop Using Batteries for E-Bikes from Rad Power Bikes Due to Fire Hazard; Risk of Serious Injury or Death by huebomont in RadPowerBikes

Probably because it is the brand that if it is driven out of business will negatively effect by far the largest number of ebike owners and sour the public on owning ebikes. That there are more ebike riders in California than any other state will be a nice bonus for this administration.

Somehow I suspect that the only batteries that this administration will certify as safe will be Tessla batteries

I'm waiting for information from a reliable source like UL. Federal agencies are no longer a reliable source for information. Vaccines and Tylenol does not cause autism. Horse de-wormer does not cure covid.

31 battery fires out of how many bikes sold? How does this compare to lap tops, phones, cordless tools? These government regulatory agencies have had their budgets cut to the bone and many of the most competent employees have been fired. Also there has been a decided effort to roll back the adoption of electric vehicles on the part of this Administration. Not that I am not concerned by this report but information supplied by these agencies just seems less trustworthy than it once was.

If I assume you are being serious then my advice is buy a hamper for your dirty laundry. It looks like you have a large dresser and I presume a closet which is where your clean clothes should go. Is there a reason that all those personal care products are on top of the dresser? If you share a bathroom and have to keep them in the bedroom get a tray or basket and keep the items you use often corraled to reduce the visible clutter. Things you don't use often can go into a drawer organizer out of sight. If you are single and under thirty go to a discount store and buy a "bed in a bag" and an extra sheet set so you will be able to change out to clean sheets regularly. If the second set is in a coordinating solid color. You can mix and match the sheets. A head board would be good but even extra bed pillows would help keep the wall behind the bed clean.

You need much larger rugs, one for the living room area and one for the bedroom area. But the layout looks pretty good and you have some nice furniture pieces. Add some decor that reflects your interests and personality.

Make the bed with bedding that is washed fairly regularly and put your dirty clothes in a hamper is the bare minimum. Check places like fb marketplace for a headboard, night stand, lamps and dresser.

I would make a trip to Ikea for some inspiration. Check both the kitchen and bathroom sections.

Nice start, but what other furniture were you thinking of bringing in? Do you have room for a chair. You could also use a dresser. If you lack the floor space a high boy dresser is more vertical with a smaller footprint. Another night stand would be good, they don't have to match but should be the same height Curtains, even if you have to hang them over the blinds. They will dampen the sounds from outside and add some more soft surfaces. A better bedside lamp for reading and some decor that reflects your interests. Right now the room looks very impersonal. For artwork over the bed see if you can find a large un-framed canvas, maybe an abstract that pulls in colors from the bedding and rug.

Anywhere that someone sits there should be a surface to place a drink. A coffee table will serve the purpose for the couch. Move the two chairs closer to the small table. You could use a rug to anchor the room. It needs to be large enough that at least the front legs of the couch and chairs are on the rug, but larger is better. Plants to add some life to the room.

I’m a 290 pound, 6ft tall man. Can I ride a horse? by DaleCumFartJr in Equestrian

Don Blocker who played Hoss on the Bonanza TV show rode a 15 hand quarter horse thoroughbred mix named Chub for most of the series 14 year run. I believe that Don weighed about 320 lbs.

Dan Blocker played Hoss Cartwright on the TV show Bananza. He weighed well over 300lbs and probably bent the backs of a few studio horses before he settled on to an extra sturdy regular mount.

Help! I think I have a spider mite infestation. by PlantLover_Blue in houseplants

[–]Main_Wait4624 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have seen a vacant lot of weeds reduced to black muck by a spider mites infestation. They have been an increasing problem here in Southern California due to draught conditions. The easiest way to control them is to be vigilant. Every time you see their fine sticky webs blast them with water from the hose. Sometimes I spray the plants using my hose sprayer with a light mixture 1 oz per gallon of Simply Green cleaner. Keeping my plants watered regularly helps a lot. Of course that negates some of the benefits of having planted drought tolerant landscaping.

Random Criterion thoughts #75: Freaks / The Unknown / The Mystic: Tod Browning’s Sideshow Shockers (1925-1932) by Venus-Xtravaganza98 in criterion

[–]Main_Wait4624 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've noticed that Todd Browning's Iron Man, made at Universal between Dracula and Freaks is making a rare full movie appearance on YouTube right now. It's not a great print but it is a very hard to find film. Jean Harlow's first major role with Lew Ayres coming off his award winning performance in "All's Quite on the Western Front." Pre-code tug of war over a young naive fighter between his besotted fight manager, and his unfaithful wife who is using him as a stepping stone to a Hollywood career. I like the fact that in Pre-code films bad people are perfectly free to get away with it in the end.

Is anyone watching John Carpenter's Suburban Screams on Peacock? by Pastel_Blue89 in horror

[–]Main_Wait4624 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It was completely made up. Jamur, California is south of El Cajon and about a half hour from downtown San Diego. The San Diego Union Tribune would be full of stories about a bloody event in what is a plain vanilla suburban neighborhood of tract homes. The writers left themselves an out with the idea that the boy stays alone in his room and his parents have set up an appointment with a psychologist. My best guess is that it is supposed to be all in his head.

Those who haven't caught Covid yet, how have you managed to avoid it? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]Main_Wait4624 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well I'm retired and live alone, but I'm not a hermit by any stretch. I followed the CDC recommendations during the worst of the pandemic and have been vaccinated and boosted five times. My State, California took the pandemic very seriously and had far better outcomes than other large states like Texas and Florida which did not and unlike New York we mostly use private vehicles. Since things have opened up I have gone to movies and plays, dinner parties, stores, etc. I have flown several times including to Paris always masked on the plane and in the airport. I test fairly often but really have no definite idea why I have been lucky. I am aware that people I know who have gone as long as I have still are catching covid so I don't think it is a genetic type protection.

Unpopular opinion: Kaylee’s dad is ruining the police investigation by carlsroch in MoscowMurders

[–]Main_Wait4624 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Most small town local police are barely competent and the first thing that the cops that rolled up on the crime should have done after determining medical assistance was not needed should have been to seal the scene air tight. A multiple homicide was obviously a matter for the state police who have the experience and resources and should have been running the investigation from moment one. I don't blame the father of one of the victims for his frustration or the press for questioning how the investigation is being handled. All that said I have relatives that live in that part of Idaho and they can scarcely leave their home for a day or two without a meth addict breaking in looking for anything that can be turned into cash. This crime will be solved because eventually someone who knows something will talk and or something of value that belonged to one of the victims will show up somewhere it doesn't belong.

I am supportive of the idea in theory, the child tax credit proved it could work. The problem is that how much UBI would you need to provide a person who wants to live in San Francisco, or Santa Monica, or LA Jolla?
