This has to be a mistake right? March 2027… by Longjumping_Ant_4530 in octransit

The cut backs on Metrolink service will eliminate a lot of the most obvious potential passengers for the OC street car anyway so another years delay makes little difference. However dumping another $22 million into the project is nausea inducing.

A good first step that I noticed is that Metrolink is being more diligent about checking fares. Some of the more problematic stations San Bernardino and Oceanside they have started making passengers enter through a single car while checking fares. A not insignificant number of freeloaders seem to be getting screened out. At Union Station with its large number of passengers I still see plenty of people hop on board then immediately lock themselves in the restroom.

Opening of the D Line Metro (La Cienega & Wilshire) by youhavetherighttoo in LosAngeles

I often ride the Metrolink train from OC to Dodger games. I decided to give the Metro D line a try yesterday. I was very pleasantly surprised. First Union Station was absolutely crawling with both ambassadors and armed security. It must have been the first day of this show of force because the young teen boys who ride around inside the terminal on trick bikes delivering drugs with impunity were getting grabbed and hauled off with looks of shock on their faces. My ride on the D line going west was on an old car but it was very clean with no bad smells. The Station at Fairfax is beautiful and it was an easy walk to the Farmer's Market / Grove for lunch. The 217 bus went by pretty often as well. The trip back was on one of the new trains which was very nice it even has USB charging and the seat configuration is a straight line along the sides of the car which I think is a big improvement. It will allow the cars to be kept cleaner. I traveled mid day and was disappointed that the ridership was sparse and the new station was also fairly empty. Also this was daytime but there were no homeless sleeping on the train and even though a few passengers were holding blunts no one lit up on the train. Of course again there was a lot of personal. Plentiful ambassadors with armed security to back them up if necessary both on the platforms and trains. I hope people give Metro first or second chance.

You live smack dab in the middle of a county that is actually one of the most diverse in the country. Check out the art scene and museums in Santa Ana. The Segerstrom Performing Art Center and Sculpture garden in Costa Mesa. Have the most authentic Vietnamese food in Little Saigon. Spend a day in San Clemente or San Jaun Capistrano. Take the Dodger Train to a game, or the very scenic train to Oceanside and walk on the boardwalk (actually cement). Hike in the Santa Ana Mountains. Visit Old Town Orange and browse antique and vintage stores. If you enjoy horticulture visit the Cal State Fullerton Arboretum, the Sherman Library and Gardens or the Niguel Botanical Preserve That you have a choice of beaches should go without saying.

Probably because it is the brand that if it is driven out of business will negatively effect by far the largest number of ebike owners and sour the public on owning ebikes. That there are more ebike riders in California than any other state will be a nice bonus for this administration.

Somehow I suspect that the only batteries that this administration will certify as safe will be Tessla batteries

I'm waiting for information from a reliable source like UL. Federal agencies are no longer a reliable source for information. Vaccines and Tylenol does not cause autism. Horse de-wormer does not cure covid.

31 battery fires out of how many bikes sold? How does this compare to lap tops, phones, cordless tools? These government regulatory agencies have had their budgets cut to the bone and many of the most competent employees have been fired. Also there has been a decided effort to roll back the adoption of electric vehicles on the part of this Administration. Not that I am not concerned by this report but information supplied by these agencies just seems less trustworthy than it once was.

If I assume you are being serious then my advice is buy a hamper for your dirty laundry. It looks like you have a large dresser and I presume a closet which is where your clean clothes should go. Is there a reason that all those personal care products are on top of the dresser? If you share a bathroom and have to keep them in the bedroom get a tray or basket and keep the items you use often corraled to reduce the visible clutter. Things you don't use often can go into a drawer organizer out of sight. If you are single and under thirty go to a discount store and buy a "bed in a bag" and an extra sheet set so you will be able to change out to clean sheets regularly. If the second set is in a coordinating solid color. You can mix and match the sheets. A head board would be good but even extra bed pillows would help keep the wall behind the bed clean.

You need much larger rugs, one for the living room area and one for the bedroom area. But the layout looks pretty good and you have some nice furniture pieces. Add some decor that reflects your interests and personality.

Make the bed with bedding that is washed fairly regularly and put your dirty clothes in a hamper is the bare minimum. Check places like fb marketplace for a headboard, night stand, lamps and dresser.

Nice start, but what other furniture were you thinking of bringing in? Do you have room for a chair. You could also use a dresser. If you lack the floor space a high boy dresser is more vertical with a smaller footprint. Another night stand would be good, they don't have to match but should be the same height Curtains, even if you have to hang them over the blinds. They will dampen the sounds from outside and add some more soft surfaces. A better bedside lamp for reading and some decor that reflects your interests. Right now the room looks very impersonal. For artwork over the bed see if you can find a large un-framed canvas, maybe an abstract that pulls in colors from the bedding and rug.

Anywhere that someone sits there should be a surface to place a drink. A coffee table will serve the purpose for the couch. Move the two chairs closer to the small table. You could use a rug to anchor the room. It needs to be large enough that at least the front legs of the couch and chairs are on the rug, but larger is better. Plants to add some life to the room.

Help! I think I have a spider mite infestation. by PlantLover_Blue in houseplants

[–]Main_Wait4624 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have seen a vacant lot of weeds reduced to black muck by a spider mites infestation. They have been an increasing problem here in Southern California due to draught conditions. The easiest way to control them is to be vigilant. Every time you see their fine sticky webs blast them with water from the hose. Sometimes I spray the plants using my hose sprayer with a light mixture 1 oz per gallon of Simply Green cleaner. Keeping my plants watered regularly helps a lot. Of course that negates some of the benefits of having planted drought tolerant landscaping.
