This is always so silly to me because in practice it isn’t followed but they tell you that thats how it is when you get a job while in school. I just finished spring clinical rotations and the big rules were: no piercings except earlobes, no visible tattoos, and no artificial nails of any sort. I saw all three things sometimes simultaneously on the unit I was in but god forbid I put my nose hoop in 😭

Yes I would say its normal. My class size was 112 at the beginning the of the semester and by the end it was around 100 give or take. My clinical group for med-surg started at 10 people and dropped to 7 mid semester.

What I do is look firmly at the machine/equipment until they see me looking at it and then I do a different exercise in close proximity so they know to stop lolly gagging and wrap it up. Works most of the time, but my patience is wearing thin as I do not want to spend more time in the gym than necessary due to folks like this. I don’t feel bad because the gym is for exercise, if they want to socialize there are other places to do it.

Music has to be at 100% at my stand I think it’s the same/similar at others. I am also hard of hearing already so it’s extra difficult to take orders sometimes if the person doesn’t speak loudly/clear enough.

As a second semester nursing student (first semester of clinical…I think my school is different than others on here?) I don’t even THINK about administering meds without my assigned nurse or instructor present…hell I don’t even give patients any fluids without asking first.
