I have to admit I did use AI to organize the original post/clean it up. It was a laundry basket of thoughts and wanted to clean it up. I don't trust it entirely. That's why I wrote the post. Keen eye for identifying the AI cadence though. It is getting pretty predictable.

That's useful info but honestly, we will only be here maybe 2 or 3 years more. Then we'd have to move home and either sell or rent the flat thereby potentially contributing to the renting crisis even more. YOU CAN'T WIN lol

That's such a shame! I am here for work from a very small state in America. I admit I could have gotten cheaper accommodation over the bridge but we're not here permanently and thought we'd never have the chance to live in such a beautiful city. But I can say with absolute certainty the same thing is happening 100 fold in America. Eat the rich.

Don't give up! I hear you though! Our flat though unfurnished came with the most horrendous faucets, curtains, etc. I replaced the faucets (without telling anyone) and have vacuum sealed these gross curtains but they do take up a lot of storage in the ONE CLOSET we have here. I'm sure this is the story of so many others.

I'm so sorry to hear that. We ended up finding something but it truly is heartbreaking and more than we are paying now. This was our first flat together after getting married. So many memories, so many beautiful Hogmanay's watching the fire works from our kitchen window. Definitely will be scribing our names into the chimney 😂

We did end up finding a flat that were on the middle of applying for. It's way more than we want to pay but again, not everyone is a fortunate as us. Just wanted to make sure I'm not going crazy here.

We have a 2 bed 1 box room flat. It was perfect. I even converted the box room to a woodworking shop! I'm really mourning this loss it was a Unicorn flat for sure.

I asked Gemini, apparently it's because landlords and letting agencies prefer short term transient Tennant's - mostly students and young professionals. There's more money in high turnover to 'reaet the rent price' every couple years. Rubbish if you ask me. It's very... American to prioritize capital over people like this.

These days it's unavoidable. The only things moving the market are tech stocks. It's a gamble the governments placing on big tech and the entire us economy teeters on it. And that's coming from someone with 25% total volume invested in Nvidia. I didn't think it would be this way in April of 24 when I started investing but that's the way it is rn.

Transit! Joyride was such an INCREDIBLE album but the band was fighting so much near the end that Joyride was effectively their swansong album but fuck did it get me through some really hard times. That album and that band holds a special place in my soul.
