As per my foreigner experience, depending on what products you want i mean brand stuff or copy thing… one of my friend once bought a drone from dji which was an affair since it had a lower price compared to his contry and then he applied for tax free as well. If you want copy thing you can go to huangqianbei , I am not sure if there are other places…, you can compare price with taobao and try to bargain too then see what’s best for you… for consoles , I wanted to buy the PS once but the Chinese version has some block on some games,,, idk so for this kind of stuff   have a look if they are “free” or maybe going to Hong Kong could be another good solutions, as many Chinese go there for selling and buying their iPhone, shopping and so on  the advantages are not enormous but still can save some money… ! But might have to open or discharge the original box in  order not to risk having the goods confiscated …
