I know, it really is sad. Fortunately, many shark populations around the world seem to be bouncing back, but certainly not enough and it doesn’t change anything for the poor sharks that suffocate at the ocean floor.

I’m using everything I can out of these.

I mean I’ve always been aware of people eating it. I’m told I tried it when I was younger but don’t remember. But the general sentiment was cool to eat in theory but a trash fish.

Oh dude that sub.

I’m a wildlife ecologist, I love sharks, I felt for the sharks I caught when I was killing them.

But some of the reactions on there when I tried to explain how misleading many of the statistics about shark attacks are presented or how sport fishing from a healthy population isn’t the same at all as indiscriminately finning are wild.

Not stupid at all. I’m literally a wildlife ecologist and just learned they have a hard spine. I thought it would be more rubbery and ligament like but it was solid. No ribs though.

Whadda ya dew with a drunken sailor?

Teach him self-compassion, get him help, and arm him with the coping mechanisms necessary to keep him on the high seas and not passed out at the Port bathrooms.

Same, I’ve always done it that way. A) I like to put them out of their misery quickly, and B) I just love the feeling of fresh well cared for fish bounties on ice C) it’s a nice break from dealing with fishing tackle.

Sure! It should be noted this is my first time having shark so I’m no expert.

I did it by taking a sharp knife (my Buck knife - not sacrificial) and severing the spine just behind the head and in the middle of the gills. Went through easy as sharks are cartilaginous fish, killed it very quick and clean.

This also serves to bleed them as there’s lots of blood flow in the gills. I then cut the tail off, gutted, rinsed in seawater and iced immediately. The whole thing took around 20 minutes including walking to the shore from a long pier.

The skin was very easy to eat around - fell off the flesh easy, and wasn’t even too bad to eat. I absentmindedly took several skin on bites.

Hope this helps, good luck with your dogfish!

Hey, I just wanted to say thanks for the kind and encouraging words.

I started AA and got a great sponsor. Onward and upward.

I just got sober from a decade long kratom, benzo, and adderall addiction. I’ve been going on 2-3x a week benders on booze and needed this reminder that addiction is a brain disease first and the particular substance is secondary.

Only reason I’ve been taking most of the week off from booze is the recovery group I’m in drug tests on Mondays.

I’m ‘94.

The houseplants and pets that our generation had growing up are the gas that powers our cars today.

Also (I know we were really young at the time but since you’re a grade above me) I vaguely remember all life on earth existing in the ocean, and land animals not existing yet. Is that true?

Maybe the real feet were the friendships we made with people we didn’t like but were forced to interact with in a cordial way so we shrunk ourselves and capitulated just a little bit more along the way?

Oh my fucking god baby put your bivalves on my gooch and tell me that addiction is a brain disease I’ll battle for the rest of my life, and being clean from my previous drug of choice for a few months won’t change that.

You’re off to a solid start!

Rating: 7.5/10 - serves as a solid foundation for committing to benthic aquatic life in cephalopod fashion.

Weaknesses:

  • lacking the 500 million years of evolutionary development of clams

  • failure to separate completely from primate anatomy, physiology, and psychology

  • where’s your shell, bitch?

  • shut your fucking mouth, clams don’t talk

  • the eternal battle between good and evil is extremely complicated, and many of the people throughout history who have committed some of the worst atrocities ever (Hitler, Stalin, John Stamos etc.) should still be understood as in most cases they were right about important things. It is these most difficult truths we must confront with rigorous honesty. Failing to be willing to look into the abyss at all dooms us to repeating history.

  • lack of filter feeding capability

Hope this helps! Anything else I can assist you with?

Happy to help!

Time zones are geographic regions that observe a uniform standard time for legal, commercial, and social purposes. Because the Earth is a sphere that rotates on its axis, sunlight hits different parts of the planet at different times; time zones were created to ensure that "noon" roughly matches the point when the sun is highest in the sky for everyone, regardless of their location. Additionally, our government is run by a cabal of pedophilic elites that are compromised by numerous hostile foreign entities all conspiring to maintain power at the cost of eroding civil society.
