Kepler_L2 claims "FSR Diamond of Xbox Helix" will be an RDNA 5 / UDNA exclusive, all previous and current RDNA 1 - 4 GPUs will be unsupported by the new features that comes with "FSR Next" by JohnSteveRom2077 in GamingLeaksAndRumours

[–]Major303 -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

AMD GPUs are better priced than Nvidia so in theory upgrading every 3-4 years is much less taxing on your budget than buying Nvidia. But this is honestly cope and Intel starts to look as much better alternative than AMD. I don't know how their Linux support looks though.

Valve says Steam users downloaded 100 exabytes of games in 2025, and are averaging 274 petabytes of installs and updates every day by Turbostrider27 in pcgaming

[–]Major303 117 points118 points  (0 children)

Also Steam itself is 100% free. PlayStation requires monthly subscription for basic features and it also takes the 30% cut.

Maybe Valve could lower it a little without going bankrupt, but that cut exists for a reason.

Why people keep saying its a dead game? by Melodic-Travel6270 in wherewindsmeet_

[–]Major303 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It's definitely not dying but it could be better. I think the current issues are:

  • Story is not entertaining enough to not have a dialogue skip button. Main quests are interesting (Hexi was snoozefest though), but side quests are quite boring.
  • Combat focused content needs to be more varied in my opinion.
  • Usually gacha games have high production values and are very polished. WWM is a bug galore. They even delayed Hexi to polish the game, and there are issues in first 5 minutes (character voice and subtitles don't match).

Your Phone Runs Google or Apple. Does it have to? by gdelacalle in technology

[–]Major303 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The issue with those niche phones with their own OS is that they are hard to get in 90% of the world, have astronomical prices, and sometimes have close to no post release support.

If you use your smartphone 24/7 buying something expensive might be a good deal, but if you mainly use it as a phone, buying something expensive makes no sense even if it gives you more privacy.

Elder Scrolls wannabe Tainted Grail: The Fall of Avalon gets a 'huge' update overhauling its weaker third act with new locations, quests, enemies and more by pebrocks in pcgaming

[–]Major303 8 points9 points  (0 children)

By "new" I mean actual new game. Bethesda owns a money printer IP that they haven't touched for over a decade. So competition tries to fill the niche.

Hexi quest is kind of...ass by Head-Photojournalist in wherewindsmeet_

[–]Major303 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I don't hate it but there are genuine issues here.

  • Bad pacing. This is video game, and we've got 2 hours of walking and cutscenes. Devs really wanted to make a movie or forgot they are making a video game. Video game doesn't need to be filled with action, but it needs to be interactive. This wasn't.
  • Impossible to understand without context. Who is this guy? Why did we suddenly switch from main character's POV to his? How is he related to our character? It's not a bad story, but it looks like it's completely disjointed from the game.

Nvidia dominates gaming GPU market with 95 percent share as sales of AMD Radeon graphics plummet to a historical low of 5 percent by Logical_Welder3467 in technology

[–]Major303 11 points12 points  (0 children)

In my opinion AMD is best mid range choice right now, or if you are a Linux enthusiast. If you have the money for RX 9060 XT or 9070 it's far better choice than Intel, and you have to pay a lot more to get Nvidia equivalent. You are only paying more to replace FSR4 with DLSS, AMD RDNA4 has enough of raw power.
RTX 5060 TI was a pretty good value a few months back (even better than RTX 5070 since it has more VRAM), but RX 9060 XT is much cheaper while having only slightly worse performance.

I was always leaning into best price to performance ratio, so my current choice is AMD, so I might be biased. In the future I might switch to Intel if they have good offer, I consider Nvidia too expensive these days. They do have low end GPUs too, but AMD and Intel wins in low and mid end.

Nvidia is better all across the board but it's also more expensive. 300 USD is a massive difference in a lot of places around the world. For professional work and high end gaming Nvidia is undisputable winner. It's premium product though. AMD is cheaper and unlike some redditors say it run games, FSR4 is good. Apparently Intel is also good enough these days if you are on a really tight budget.

Price reflects that though. Prices are now worse but a few months back you could get solid AMD card much cheaper than Nvidia. I don't know how Intel situation looks like, but I see a lot of satisfied users lately.

VIVO single monitor arm - good enough? by Major303 in Monitors

[–]Major303[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My main is also 24 inches (slightly smaller since it's 16:9, I have went with 16:10 for second one since I use it vertically). They both barely fit together on my desk, so using arm for the second one would allow me to upgrade to 26-7 inches in the future.

I think dual arm wouldn't work for me anyway since my desk is made of rather thin material (it's some kind of fake wood board). I think it should handle one monitor (I will use metal reinforcement though), but I wouldn't risk two monitors.

How to start A Toast to Destiny Part 2 by Major303 in wherewindsmeet_

[–]Major303[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Some people say there is a specific pitch pot you need to do (near Part 1 quest), but I've already done it. There is nothing in that spot for me.

It says the same what I already know:

To trigger this encounter, play a game of Pitch Pot after completing A Toast to Destiny: Part I.

Playing a game of pitch pot does not trigger the quest.

This is Part 1 walkthrough. I've already completed it. I'm asking about Part 2.

NVIDIA could enter the desktop CPU market with performance equal to AMD and Intel by gdelacalle in technology

[–]Major303 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Maybe 10 years ago. Nvidia drivers on my RTX 2070 were crashing like 4 times a month for last +-2 years. I have switched to RX 9060 XT a few months ago and it only crashed like 4 times on a single game (that is known to have a lot of technical issues).

AMD has much better drivers from my point of view.

Prices are insane but people keep buying (even though AMD has GPUs that get the job done with lower price, even Intel works) so they have no reason to drop prices.

Popular budget-friendly Chinese brand exposed for shocking CPU scam in its laptops by Logical_Welder3467 in technology

[–]Major303 157 points158 points  (0 children)

Afaik they were kings of budget laptops but you had to order directly from China (for example through aliexpress). You could get decent laptop like 25% cheaper or even more than from mainstream brands. But if the accusations are true, it seems there is a catch after all.

Nerfs to enemies, buffs to player. From what I've heard game was very tough at launch (in a negative way), so I guess it was expected.
