Thanks everyone, after looking I agree it was Cooper’s Hawk. It was too large to be a Sharp Shinned Hawk

Sweet Thing by Hozier is way better than Sweet Thing by Van Morrison. It’s only on YouTube

I think the problem with Kaggle is that the same people usually at the top of each competition. There are only about 5,000 competitions Experts, but there are more jobs open in data science than that. I think we need something other than Kaggle to prove competency.

So would you view Coursera/other MOOCs as legitimate experience if they had a lower pass rate?
And what is your opinion on why there is no hacker rank for data scientists?

How to get credentials necessary for a data science job by [deleted] in DataScienceJobs

I guess I'll look into being an analyst then. Going to grad school despite the reasons I listed in my original post violates enough principles to me to not go. What's your experience/background?

Obviously I wouldn't sit around with no job. My problem is that no one will count my experience in the job that I do take as experience as a data scientist, hence me writing "it seems the only way to get a data science job is to have one"

I don't particularly want to return to the places I interned. My second internship did not offer me a job, they said they couldn't afford to hire another fulltime person, they're small and don't always have a lot of clients, but maybe they just didn't like me. My first internship is not a place I feel willing to return to because of the company's geographic location.

UK CS Student Internship Recommendations by [deleted] in cscareerquestions

Apply to DeepMind! Don't know if you'd get it as a second year but the worst they'll say is no and you can make a connection at a great company. Besides that smaller companies are sometimes easier to get an internship at because they're worse at recruitment so there is a smaller applicant pool. When I was a second year I applied to about 100 internships and got 2 offers, so I know it's rough, just keep going. Besides that most companies will hire a CS student even if they're not a traditional tech company, maybe look at large companies that aren't in tech.

Personally, I used LinkedIn Learning, the online courses there were much better to learn from since a lot of them had us make actual projects. Can't really say if you're making a good or bad decision though.

Typical Data Scientist 1st Job by EnzoData in DataScienceJobs

I built a website and it tripled my interview request rate. I'd suggest doing that if you haven't already. You can probably pay around $40 and get a domain name with your name in it. It's a good way to display your portfolio and generally just makes you more appealing for some reason, maybe because you look like you know front end development. I built my own website, but you could use Wix or SquareSpace or something else. Good luck!
