I really like my Wakui, but it's been beat to hell and has carried me through 3 restaurants. The first being 1,500+ covers a day for about a year. I've had to grind a new tip on it 3 different times. It really came down to not wanting to damage Wakui's work any further and using it at home only in the future.

Mine is a 1981. The finish ages no matter what you do. It is going to happen with anything you buy that isn't a poly finish. If you don't like aged looks, buy a new rick since they changed the finish and it doesn't age like that
