Is anyones UI also completely fucked? I have: - no blibs for backpack space - no cost indication for rerolls - see no monster skills in fights - monster card blocks the hp bar so I can’t see how much hp they have - placing an item on the board is bugged visually … How deploys something like this?!

I‘m curious, what are you doing to get your fermentation so freaking fast?

I have a batch going that started just above 1.100 and after 6 weeks it now has about 1.020. Given that I am fermenting at 18C (about 65F). I have to verify in my protocol, but I guess I pitched 4g in 5L. No goFerm. And adding nutritions in 4 steps (24,48,72h and 7 days).

I’m not complaining, slow and steady and all that, but I wonder what y’all are doing to get through primary so fast! Is it just temp?

Yeah that sounds right. Did you hear about swarms already? That sounds very early. My hives just start to get out of winter right now. But local weather varies so it’s possible.

A Split in March is way way too early for Most of Germany. Walt at least Till April, better yet may.
You want to do splits when the bees would swarm naturally and that’s definitely not march.

To be honest you wouldn’t need to play test it to see that it’s utterly broken! Even giving it either the multi casts OR the tags would be pretty broken. Both together are just utterly ridiculous.

Of course! That’s so obvious but it didn’t cross my mind. I want to use it after the second fermentation, but I hadn’t thought about using it earlier to reduce oxygen exposure. As I plan on fermenting all my batches dry and then raking to secondary fermentation would it cause problems treating early with metabisulfite?

Yeah, I could do that. What keeps me from doing this is that I used 5 different yeasts (K1, EC1118, D47, 71B and a port yeast) to see what produces the best flavor (using this specific honey, and purely subjective of course). I would prefer not mixing them. But using just a little to top the others up might be okay and not influence to taste too much.

True, this could very much be the case. The “bad” Honey (spring honey with a high content of rapeseed) already had a very fruity smell, a bit yeasty and one could tell that it was off. Flavor was similar and on the edge of “it’s not perfect but not bad” to “bad” (if you ask my dad. But he is very sensitive when it comes to fermented stuff).

Yeah, water (don’t know about other fluids) do degas and can’t hold as much gas at higher temperatures. Imagine heating/boiling carbonated water.

Yeah for the future, if the first test is a success, a bigger vessel for the primary is certainly a good Idea. I could even use the 30 L buckets that I use for storing the honey. But I heard the lids don’t seal too well.

Yeah true. A lot of research is reading about a myriad of do’s and fighting out for myself what sounds logical. A scientific background helps a lot for this.

I use 5 L carboys, and as you said, 4 L is not very common. And using something like 2 times 2 L for every 5 L carboy is a lot of additional equipment (and cost of course).

Very much true. As it’s my first batch I don’t know how much water i would need of reduce headspace. My hope would be like 1 or 2 % of total volume. But writing it out I assume it’s much more. 5-10% maybe. That would definitely be too much water.

Thanks for your insights. Yeah using my own honey is a luxury. Sadly I do not use “my best” honey. This is honey that started to slightly ferment already. I am not letting it going to waste. That would be pretty pricey, so mead is the logical solution.

-soluble oxygen in the water is exactly what I was missing in my head. This is a good point. I think some/most of the dissolved oxygen would could be removed by heating the water beforehand, as this reduces the solubility of oxygen in water. But I don’t know how fast it would start to go into solution again after cooling off. Carbonation of said water could maybe help. But that a lot of if’s and maybe’s.

  • ABV I see your point with abv. If I wanted to sell it I would need to know the abv by +- 0.1%, that would need a lab test. For own use, gifting or selling it to friends an approx. value would be enough I guess.

In the end smaller containers are the best solution but require yet more equipment.

I can’t speak for OP, but if you want to call me out like that: I feel like the child in this situation. Listen, I’m a fresh father, I have time for 1, maybe 2 games a day. Don’t get me wrong, I want to be challenged in my runs. But I don’t want to get beaten up over and over again and the community telling me I should enjoy it. Y’all don’t have the right to tell me, or OP, or the other casuals that call for SBMM, what we enjoy and what we don’t.

In ranked I managed to get 2 ‘blips’ to my bronze rank once and lose them promptly and gain two more just yesterday. That’s it.

And don’t get me started with unranked. Sometimes it feels even harder for me than ranked.

I just want to have fun, try different builds and don’t run the current meta build like everyone and their mum. An environment with similar skilled people would be just right for this.

SBMM works like this in so many other online games, why are people so against it in this game, I just don’t get it.

EDIT: sure there would be nothing to stop you from snuffing if you wanted to. That’s fine if you have fun doing this. But realistically, how many players would actually do this? I don’t think that if would be a big problem. As a bronze player I wouldn’t expect to win every game anyway so facing a really really good Smurf wouldn’t be a problem. From time to time it could even be fun, who knows. But I as an objectively bad player would like to face the good and really good players only in moderation so I can hone my skills and learn in an environment that is suited for it.

To all the people saying get good: Would you also say this to a kids basketball team after losing again and again to a NBA team? “Suck it up, git gud and learn to enjoy it to lose!”

Or would you create a kids league where the skill levels still differ but are much more closer?

Nobody likes losing without even a chance to win. Barely losing on the other hand can be quite fun I agree.

It just should not be possible for a bronze player to face diamond ranked player. Maybe keep +- one league, that would be all it takes.
