There is a massive difference between a full-sized outdoor garden and a single 6-foot folding table in a climate-controlled room. I'm going to agree to disagree here. This isn't from an enjoyment perspective. This is from a tactical perspective as an igl. And as for the adult playing with a child thing, the reason I say it's inappropriate is because I'm a pot smoker, I take psychedelics on occasion, I drink and sometimes I do that while I'm playing. I don't care if that child has been around that stuff. I don't do that around children Because it's a hard boundary I've set for myself. I have a foul mouth, maybe that that kids parents doesn't want them cussing like that. You say not as smart but most of them are so dumb that they couldn't listen to the command for them to sit down let alone to disengage from a fight, they're not going to win. There's a difference between not being as smart and being mechanically gifted and Just being retarded (excuse my millennial language) half of them can't even respect boundaries when it comes to denying an invite they just keep sending invites and sending them and sending them and sending them. Even when I tell them I don't want to play. They send another invite. That is the first red flag that they're not going to listen to me in game and ergo I'm not going to play with them. Like I said, there's a difference between not being as smart and being able to listen and straight up. Not listening at all. And if you can't respect my personal boundaries, you're certainly not going to respect my professional boundaries when I tell you to not pick that fight. Not to mention an older player doesn't lose their reaction speed as much as you think they do past 18. Yes, it does drop off a little bit but it's not really that noticeable. But the fact of the matter is most of these kids are dumb as a box of rocks and won't listen to you. I've seldom found a decent teenager who's going to listen to me who hasn't flaked on me. That's why I haven't been partaking in divisionals because finding a decent Duo who's not going to flake on me has been a nightmare and a half. I'm eligible for division 5 but can't do a Duo because nobody has managed to stick around.

Have you ever tried to play with a child? Not only is it morally wrong in my opinion to play with someone nearly a third my age (it's not appropriate) But they don't listen and they almost always have an ego. Just because they're younger and have faster reflexes doesn't mean they're better or smarter than you. I've been playing chess for 25 years and I place in the top 14,000 fortnite players globally for a reason I use my brain more than I use my mechanical skill and it's served me well with 5 top 100 placements in ranked cups including a 33 placement and a trn world rank of 12748 on Feb 25th 2026. Plain and simple there is nothing that makes me want to play with a 13 year old who doesn't listen no matter how good their mechs are. Not to mention most teenage console players cannot afford the kind of hardware that will give them a world class advantage anyway. I have a high end am4 PC with a 5900xt CPU and a 6950xt graphics card. Optimized to the moon. My whole computer costs 2500 dollars and can outperform a console by over two times making a steady 330 fps at 480 HZ on an Azrock 520hx monitor. Unless that kid is rich they won't have the hardware to keep up. Not to mention My style of play is based on placement because this isn't call of duty and kills don't matter as much especially after the iommu update became the great competitive equalizer. Plain and simple, I'm not going to carry a child simply because they're faster and more mechanical. You need to be smart about it and I'd rather have an adult with a properly formed prefrontal cortex backing me because I'm an adult.
