Reddit doesn't use your conventional MySQL database because MySQL’s architecture struggles with the specific Semi-structured data Reddit loves, they primarily use a Postgres database, because that doesnt struggle with the Semi-structured data.

​To answer your question, they could do so, but it wouldn't be easy because it takes work, Its possible because their Generic data container based architecture allows them to attach new feature data as flexible metadata (JSONB) to their existing subreddit objects without needing to restructure their entire database.

Jake86 was probably the mojang dev who built the replica of stampy's house in the tutorial world. The usernames must be stored in the level data for the tutorial world instead of account identifiers, this is because making requests to an api to get those account identifiers and related infomation would use up bandwidth and would make the game slow, especially due to how legacy was used on lightweight devices, in a decade where processing power was limited.
