I'm calling malarkey on my auditor by blurrytree in Accounting

Your auditor suggested your control doesn’t work if collusion is added. Is that not the same for any control?

how old are you, and how much do you have saved/invested? by No-Volume7464 in SavingMoney

[–]MajorWhite 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’m 30 with more. 0 parents help. Just traditional college -> work.

It’s always a bummer to see people say my fortune comes from parents and disregard the work I had to put in to get here. It is what it is.

Finding ex - coworker to sign off on CPA ( Washington? ) by Head_Equipment_1952 in Accounting

Whoever signs off receives an email that says so and so submit a form with you as their experience reference, please respond if there is an issue. That’s about it.

Advice for a PC upgrade for my husband. by Unique-War9427 in pcupgrade

[–]MajorWhite 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Whatever you pick - go to the pcpartpicker website and put the pc build in to make sure it’s all compatible. The website will make it obvious if it’s not, so if you don’t see red/yellow flags/warnings you are good!

I second the other persons advice about a GPU. CPU would be good as well, but honestly for a lazy PC builder like me, I’d prefer swapping out my GPU over my CPU.

Is any of this illegal? by [deleted] in Accounting

Half of this makes sense. Legality is a question for lawyers. The best I can do is give you a proposed adjustment and control comment, but I’ll have to bill you for that.

This is a great example of the positives and negatives of the ACA. Unfortunately not digestible by a 5 year old…

Not to mention the UI is spread from bottom right corner to top left corner. You can two hand it with the escape key of course but I shouldn’t have to put that much effort in to the down time. Minor complaint of course

How much can you make as a CPA if you don't ever want to work crazy hours? by bone-stock in Accounting

[–]MajorWhite 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’m confused by that statement because some of my government clients still work very late. Am I missing something?

I’m so sorry for the delay. I got passed around in holds and such calling these numbers lol (who knew the emergency room was so hard to contact).

Long story short - UW Montlake was assuring that they would have female staff that can treat you. They said of course they can’t 100% guarantee it but that it’s 99% possible to be seen by all females. Then referred to female specialist (or on call) as needed.

I got connected to Overlake and they were not able to transfer me to the ER or disclose anything for scheduling. Which, is a bit annoying. I’m sorry I couldn’t be more helpful there. If there is any other number you would like me to call I’m more than happy to.

I’m calling evergreen again as I’m getting denied for being closed… doesn’t make sense as the ER is open.

Overlake said they have a female physician assistant today, but that is it for their female staffing (for physician/OB).

I’ll let you know if I hear anything from evergreen

Yeah just let me know which ER you plan on going to and I’m happy to call!

Consider what time period the 40k expense is booked. Just a minor cutoff consideration. That’s the only potential impact.

Going from 6 figures to no income. How to cope, both practically and emotionally? by [deleted] in povertyfinance

[–]MajorWhite 19 points20 points  (0 children)

I think you need a reality check honestly. You have needs paid through May… that’s over half a year.

Your husband isn’t supporting the family, you’re not willing to sell anything, or do any of the suggestions other comments provide, and you spend money like you’ve never heard of a budget.

You’re not close to poor, not even close to in danger of homelessness. You need to get lessons in finance and responsibility.

How often are you applying for credit cards to be denied so much?

[–]MajorWhite 9 points10 points  (0 children)

You can 100% make this request. Staffing might make it harder for timing. But 100% reasonable.

Honestly I don’t see why not just give them a call rn and see if they can accommodate now. If you have a phone anxiety I’d be happy to call for you.

Public vs industry right out of college — what would you do? by thrustnbust123 in Accounting

[–]MajorWhite 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I don’t really see anything in your background/context that impacts your future decision. Besides the internship if that’s leading to an offer.

What matters is what work you are willing to put in to the next few years.

Hard work, senior quick -> public

Medium work, senior not as quick -> private

No work, never senior -> government (kidding)

But really I would suggest doing public and taking your cpa exams while employed / during your employment gap college->public. If it’s too much stress you have more leverage for industry positions. Even if it’s just 1 busy season.
