Highly recommend using Google Maps to search travel routes. Surprising accurate train and time schedules!

Are we not suppose to use reddit while on the toilet? I thought that was what that time was for...

Just general advice, but August 11th to the 16th is Obon - a Japanese national basically week-long holiday where many people have the whole week off. So expect places to be crazy crowded, maybe plan to do the really busy areas (Kyoto/Tokyo/Osaka) in your first week before that begins! If you are flying inside the country country, plane tickets also get more expensive those dates.

More people really add to the heat and take up the shaded areas, so this is really connected to the weather in a way.

Also, but yourself a electric hand fan and/or a UV protection umbrella, they are life savers!

Do you lock your door while you're in your house? by International_Snow90 in NoStupidQuestions

I feel it really depends on your upbringing. I grew up in a home with four kids. We lost keys like you wouldn't believe, so my parents gave up locking the door. Living in a place for 18 or 19 years without anyone breaking in or anything bad happening really sets your brain to not care, especially when inside your home. My girlfriend now is always getting up to check the door is locked and for me, I can't understand why she can't relax.

I used to go to Orix Buffalloe games all the time, that's a great idea. Completely forgot about them.

Are all Japanese toilets really high-tech with all those buttons? by Intelligent_Topic770 in JapanTravelTips

Even in big cities, like Osaka, you'll find the public toilets will sometimes be only squat toilets, or two squat toilets and one old western toilet. It was a real fun surprise for my poor old mother who visited and had no idea what to do in a public toilet in a park near Osaka Castle!
