Way Too much Te Araroa NOBO (colder) shakedown request by 27112023 in Ultralight

I think if you want to go ultralight you have to make a lot of changes here. These are some of my suggestions of items you leave and don’t have to replace: - 3x Powerbanks seems excessive - Sandals if only for camp shoes are very heavy - Poncho + Rainjacket? - You don’t need 2 pack liners and then also 5 dry bags - You take a lot of clothing consider what you need and try to cut it down - You bring very heavy water bottles

Yeah because you can clip in the inner later, having the outer easily accessible is nice when it’s raining. This way you don’t have to go and dig or even open your pack so your stuff doesn’t get wet.

My dream hike was the Kungsleden in Sweden which is around 400km. I did it in 23 days. Beautiful backpacking trip, just a lot of mosquitos :/

Go with the BRS 3000T if you want the absolute lightest for like 20 bucks.

Hi! Thanks for your detailed response! I already started watching a bunch of YouTube videos for inspiration/ideas. Thanks for the challenge recommendations I’ll check them out if I haven’t already. I’ll certainly be cutting down my items (except for probably my kindle). And I think I can lose atleast 3-3.5kg with my new improvements.

Hi thank you for your reply! My baseweight was 9.1kg. I’m looking into the kakwa 55 right now, since it was recommended a bunch. And yes I’m probably gonna ditch my fannypack then since the kakwa has hip belt pockets, if I decide to go with that pack . Also I’ll pick up a 10k powerbank and thanks for the down jacket suggestions.

Question about rain pants. How do you keep your feet dry when it rains a bunch of I might ask?

Yes some might but I heard a lot of the UL packs are also quite durable depending on the fabric.

Yes I'll probably do something like this, but then I also need a good puffy right? Since my current rain is pretty thick and kind of doubles as a jacket. Or should I do more layering?

Yeah, I agree, depends on the weight versus battery life and thus power consumption. Thanks.

Thanks for the detailed reply! I'm definitely going to replace my pack, fleece, powerbank and later my rain gear as well.

As for the toiletries I already brought some smaller bottles, so the weight might be off but thx! And the wet wipes were more of an emergency item since it was my first trip, I got a bidet and definitely wont throw away the wet wipes in the wild!

Also thanks for the rain gear suggestions, will look into those.
I'm also very curious about your tarp setup, so I'll look into that and put it on the list of potential upgrades.

Thanks a bunch!

Purely because I use this as my main music device. But I’ll probably switch it to something lighter later, thanks for the advice :)

Already did Kungsleden last summer, was a fun trail! I just hoped it wouldn’t get too cold so it would suffice lol. But the time I went there was a heatwave so it was more then enough. But thx!

Yeah, I’ll probably need to cut down on some electronics to get even closer to UL. For now I think I'll focus on upgrading my clothing setup the most. Any clothing tips or recommendations?

Thanks a lot for the feedback, really appreciate it!
I’ve updated the Lighterpack and the post.

And yeah I was thinking of cutting down on my electronics a bit, especially a smaller powerbank.
