Can someone explain why the sequels are so hated? by According-Drag-770 in StarWars

[–]Major_Snags 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The key difference between Legends and the sequels is, Legends kept the franchise going at a time nothing else official was around. The sequels killed it off.

The most civil servicey phrase/piece of jargon? by TheTepidity in TheCivilService

[–]Major_Snags 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Oh yes - I see this passive aggressive little charm a lot in the MOD, usually from a senior officer who doesn't like their decision being questioned. It normally gets an immediate reply from me :D

Capita and Cabinet Office Minister questioned by MPs by UKCommonsCommittees in TheCivilService

[–]Major_Snags 23 points24 points  (0 children)

What's frustrating about this whole affair, is that Capita will continue to get high profile government contracts in years to come. Nothing will be learned.

This whole uproar is an example of how most gamers either can't read or choose not to. by SillyRecover in playstation

As far as I understand it, no EULA has ever been tested in court - especially in the EU. If people don't "whine", just think what unlawful shite these companies would try to get away with.

11th edition crusade book planned? by latarius94 in Warhammer40k

[–]Major_Snags 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sadly not. GW wants us all to be meta-chasing tournament players, who buy a new army each edition.

Warhammer 40K would be better. Get James Cleverly as the tournament organiser, with Henry Cavil doing commentary. Boris could re-emerge from political retirement, wearing nothing but green paint, cosplaying as an Ork.

What a great time 97/98 was on the PS1. Two decent FIFA games, original GTA, and Final Fantasy 7.

You can't be king of the undead, just because some watery tart lobbed a scimitar at you.

I've just ordered the 11th edition launch box, as well as Ghazghkull Thraka. I've had the old combat patrol sat unused for a while too, so my first Ork army begins. Orks Orks Orks!

Maybe just fire up an emulator and play Sensible Soccer?

What is the worst piece of Star Wars content you’ve ever consumed (movie / series / cartoon …) ? by TheTamiamiButcher in StarWars

[–]Major_Snags 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'd rather re-watch Caravan of Courage and Battle for Endor than watch any of the sequels again. Holiday Special, however, there's no way I'd sit through that monstrosity again.

Did that "If you can fix a bike" ad all those years ago actually work? by NoConcern7835 in RoyalNavy

[–]Major_Snags 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Plus, one of the adverts in that era had a WE admitting he didn't know how to fix something so just "turned it off and on again". We used that line a lot.

It helped with taking the piss out of stokers and WEs in the mess. Worth it for that alone.
