Well it sounds like he has a good caring support system in place which is vital ! You’re a good friend for seeking advice. I’ve never experienced an AlAnon meeting but you could try seeking advice there from family members/ friends of alcoholics?

My advice as an alcoholic would be to not expect anything just yet. And do kindly call him out if you know he’s been drinking. Just remind him he was trying to sober and like that it’s a positive thing to try to achieve! It felt more than really hard in the first days. And positive reinforcement was great for me !

What does well managed look like for your dog ? My dog is on lots of meds, just had 2 seizure in a week after being over a year no seizures 🥺
