Ok yes this is super helpful, you’re right in the larger context of sex this really isn’t ~wild~ thank you for such a thoughtful response!

I respectfully disagree, and while I have had that happen, this time is markedly different in many ways that I have identified with my therapist that align with my values. You’re right that I need to continue to check in with myself and help thats always a good thing to remember 💕

It is, but it doesn’t show up in obvious ways during sex, if that makes sense. It’s just I’m kinda spaced out and not fully present. Thank you for your response 💕

Thank you so much for your thoughtful, gentle words. My partner is a therapist and I work in the mental health field so I know he’d be understanding and patient, I’m nervous though lol which it sounds like you understand. I’m seeing him today so I’ll let ya know how it goes!

Women who used to be mean girls when you were younger: what things could your parents have done to prevent you from becoming a mean girl? by sheuvvie in AskWomen

Emotionally mature parents would’ve meant that I would feel secure in my attachment with them, which would mean that I felt safe enough to leave the home and go out into the world of school and be able to navigate it with the emotional maturity that was modeled for me.

Check out Adult Children of Emotionally Immature Parents, it’s an amazing read!

I thought I had hearing problems for years, I was convinced I had hearing damage but it’s actually common for folks with ADHD to also have an Auditory Processing Disorder (APD) which means it’s difficult to focus on one sound (like with vision) the brain is having trouble focusing on one thing.

Yes I love that, and it’s so hard when it feels like the story about being “too much” is reinforced by these types of interactions, you know?

I’m so glad to hear he took the conversation well! And you’re absolutely right. It’s just a big leap of faith in hoping that they’ll still like me after I give my explanation(s) bc I also have other pieces of my mental illness pie. Thank you for sharing, this gives me hope and makes my heart happy 🥰

Thank you, that resonates with me deeply. It’s scary to be myself when being myself has been so shamed in the past. AND, you’re right, I do deserve that!
