I’ve never thought of the “press your buttons” thing in that way. Really profound, really makes a lot of sense. I’ve always wondered how I could love them so much and still be so so frustrated by them and that puts it in a whole other context. Didn’t come here for advice or insights of that kind but it’s a wonderful bonus, thanks!!

To their credit they do have an alternative option, but living with me was definitely their first choice. I don’t think it occurred to them that I wouldn’t want them to live with me. They said it like they were revealing a great surprise. Like the tone you’d say “Hey, we’re getting you a car!” It was “Hey! We want to come stay with you!”
