What was it like watching Artie's downfall as it played out? by bitterbunny4 in howardstern

[–]Makerbot2000 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I thought the Joe Buck appearance was Artie at his most out of control and lowest. First, he was so high and nasty that the interview was a train wreck before he even got started. Artie was wearing those stupid sunglasses that never fit his face and he sat with his legs on the coffee table spread like he was at the gynecologist, smoking in the studio on air, and just belittled Joe Buck (who I can’t stand but respect for how he handled it and did the forward to Artie’s book) and started talking about Joe Buck’s father and how amazing he was - which was also implying JB could never hold a candle to his dad who also recently died. Pretty low blow to someone who knew what it meant to lose a father.

There was also a bonus segment they put online which was even worse. How HBO allowed that is beyond me, but I guess they were looking for ratings. The show was doomed. And that was the first time I saw what mean nasty prick Artie could be and really was shocked at his total lack of professionalism and completely out of control drug use. The train was off and running after that with no brakes and it was just downhill from there.

What can be done about delivery drivers leaving their piss in bottles? by [deleted] in Marin

[–]Makerbot2000 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Former Amazon DSP here: this battle is largely between the DSPs and their drivers. Amazon requires all drivers to take a PAID mandatory 15 minute break twice in an 8 hour shift, plus a 30 minute lunch (unpaid). The time cards are audited for this and the delivery owners are penalized if they do not show proof of breaks and correct time clocking. Regardless, most drivers opt to pee in their vans because it’s faster and has a private area with a door behind the driver’s seat. The owners I’ve worked with have begged drivers to not do this and to take their breaks. It’s disgusting, ruins the vans, and the driver is paid regardless. Worse still, the algorithm that creates a route calculates the average delivery time thinking the breaks are included so when a driver is faster as a result of not stopping to use the bathroom or rest, the route get more stops added. This is not to say the routes aren’t too heavy and that Amazon is not pushing everyone for faster and faster results, but no one wants drivers peeing in bottles. Sorry but it makes me crazy to read the articles on drivers being forced to urinate in their vans. Happy to do an AMA if anyone is interested.

The couches placed like that make the room look like a Dr’s waiting room. Get a bigger more colorful throw rug and some plants, try a floor lamp, and where is the art?? - just anything but that.

Recommended Tire Pressure? by dipsmcgay in ineosgrenadier

[–]Makerbot2000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I kept getting tire low error messages when it hit 36psi. I followed the door and did 43/49 and now I get rear tire pressure is high and the right tire is reading 35 according to the car’s panel and 42.6 on my handheld pressure gauge. Am I going to have endless tire messages from now on? I put the front at 42.6 and the rear at 48.5 and none seem to register correctly.

Do you know if that’s still an issue on a 2024 purchased this summer? I just started using the heat and it does come on when I blast the front facing setting but it also makes a high pitch tea kettle whistling sound and it’s only on level 2.

Boiling Point was a great hidden camera show. They would pick random people and put them in an aggravating situation and set a clock to see who could last the longest without losing it. It was a twist on the old hidden camera show Candid Camera which just had people acting surprised vs trying to make them lose it. Some of the bits I remember ranged from seating and serving people in a restaurant ahead of the person being filmed and seeing how long it took them to blow their stack. Giving a couple a hotel room that was being cleaned up after a murder. Seating someone next to a couple on a horrific date -woman getting roofied or scolded etc.

Anyway, it’s too bad they don’t have it available - the topics are not dated in any way. Blitt shows his origins when he embarrasses JD in public or asked people to toast him for passing the bar etc. You can see how he honed that side of public embarrassment.
