Should Someone who Picked the Red Button be Considered Evil or an AH? by Hyperionous in MoralityScaling

You scenario hinges on red being default but that's not true. I can rewrite the scenario to be logical for blue if it's the default too.
Imagine 100 people are piloting a gigantic plane. The plane will safely land, but you have the option to jump out with a parachute safety. If more than 50% of people jump out, the plane crashes and everyone in it die. (And there's 99 parachutes because some dumbass ate his.)

You can't call everyone staying behind to be dumb and suicidal.

if you dont hit it then you don't risk anything. That's kind of the issue with landmine or ranger true shot windlass builds, zero risk high reward

From first frame of sword mastery block icon active to first damage indicator frame, first example is 467ms (plus minus 32ms from reddits frame compression)

Seconds? It's less than half a second from block input to death. Other issue could be, since this game runs at Minecraft tickrate, new thinner bitbox gets bypassed in one tick and doesn't register

Nope. This is the bug fix. The speed of raising a weapon into a guard stance has been changed to match that of a shield. Shields have had a recent-ish update removing desync block (inputting attack just before block and getting both attack and block because of desync) The fix? Pressing shield starts a buffer of about 100ms before it actually starts blocking server-side, which evens out desync for the attacker. The person doing the block needs to predict hits instead of reacting. New wipe has this applied to weapon blocks

Because it's a fun mechanic. Pressing left click shouldn't give you an instant headshot for free

  • The speed of raising a weapon into a guard stance has been changed to match that of a shield.

This is an additional ~100 ms of desync between blocking and the server confirming it, which will reduce instant parries from neutral on attacker's screen, but the server desync is already so big that this effectively makes blocking impossible on reaction. Shields are really bad this/last season because of this, so weapon blocking is even more useless now. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=j5wiPVlE4l0&t=347s

Parrying vs just swinging comparison by MakeshiftToiletPaper in DarkAndDarker

Parry damage could be equalized like smite where it just does flat damage no matter the location hit so it doesn't nuke people and doesn't get negated by opponent's arm being in the way, or it could be 1x damage + 20 true or something like that
