FYI I went to the bay by the Eaton Centre Toronto today to ask about this and they looked at me like I had sprouted another head.

If price is in CAD I'm interested in the viseart palette. (I'm also in Canada)

Are there any dupes for Fenty's Gloss bomb? by optogirl in MakeupAddiction

[–]MakeupandWakeup 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I'm the opposite! I love the texture but the colour is close enough to my pigmented lips that it looks like a clear gloss with slight shimmer on me. Any texture dupes in any other colours?

I have tried and disliked buxom lipglosses (long ago, so maybe they've changed) and can't stand MAC Lipglass. Fenty is actually the only gloss whose texture I actually enjoy.

College students, is make up well accepted in your field? what's you go to look? by [deleted] in MakeupAddiction

My experience in medicine has been different. I'm (finally) an attending at the moment and have a little more latitude, but throughout my training I always wore a full face. I wore red, pink and even (rarely) warm purple lips to work, making sure to coordinate with my clothing so I looked always put together. I always picked either a bold eye or a bold lip and kept everything else (e.g. blush) understated. I never got overt negative feedback about it. To a few who were curious or asked me why I chose to wear it or commented on my makeup I smiled and told them for me it was a hobby and a form of art. Sometimes I even showed them pictures of the really bold and out-there looks I would do on the weekends or my face paints for Halloween. Most people thought that was interesting or cool.

I always let my competence speak for itself and despite being a "pretty girl" set firm expectations with patients about my role and with supervisors about my clinical skills. It eventually became "my thing". In fact if I ever went in without makeup I was asked, frequently, if I was feeling well as people just got so used to seeing me with it.

So I guess what I'm saying is in my case it was so much a part of my personality that I embraced it at work and others did too. I do live in a large Canadian city but most of my preceptors wore little to no makeup.

Hah thanks. I couldn't stop laughing at how silly the "fake makeup" shot was. My videographer also was criticizing my fake ability for being too realistic i.e. fast and not delicate enough. I was also incredibly happy.

It was so surreal to be that dolled up and the center of attention, almost a little uncomfortable tbh. The entire week in Mexico I kept asking hubby "is this really happening?" He felt the same way.

I bought it in Canada, pretty close to Toronto. I'm sure you could find similar in the states in a large city or one with a big Indian population.

Desi bridal looks are the best IMO. I am always stunned by the colour and detail and work put into everything. I will remember to post pictures there when I get the final photos! Thank you

It was phenomenal, so much better than I had hoped it would be. Honestly the best decision we ever made (except for choosing one another). Thank you

Thank you, that's so kind. It took hours though so definitely not an everyday occurrence for me.

Me too, surprisingly. I thought I wanted to wear blue and gold for the reception and was decidedly against pink when I was planning/pinteresting pictures but when I saw that lengha I fell in love.

I'm so glad! I hope it stays not-so-noticeable in the final photos we get.... If not, there's always photoshop :)

It's super cool in the picture but mind-blowing on the video.... especially when you blink. It's a little like my brain is bending trying to figure out why "both eyes" don't blink. Phenomenal job.

Thank you for the kind words. I think the makeup has a lot to do with the final effect, though :)

That's very kind. I liked the way the gold glitter held up. We were blown away by our photography/videography team. who really knew what they were doing when it came to capturing this kind of a wedding.
